Great Van Susteren: Possible connection between ACORN and Bill Ayers
Greta Wire (Fox News) ^ | October 16, 2008 | Greta Van Susteren

Posted on 10/16/2008 4:18:03 PM PDT by Tree of Liberty

Read this…

1. The Secretary of State of Ohio Jennifer Brunner filed a request in the Supreme Court relating to the underlying claim in her state that there has been voter registration fraud…with ties to the work of ACORN in registering voters.

2.  A group — the Service Employees International Union [SEIU] — filed an amicus brief in the United States Supreme Court asking the Supreme Court to rule with the Secretary of State of Ohio (and essentially asking for a ruling that would be favorable to ACORN in that it would “call off the dogs.”)

3.  I thought it curious that SEIU would file an amicus brief for Brunner and did some quick research …and now I need more indepth research (which is where YOU come in.)  According to my quick research..the same person who started ACORN, started SIEU.  His name is Wade Rathke. So then I wondered, who is Wade Rathke?

4.  I did some really quick research and learned that Rathke was a member of the anti war group SDS.  This is where YOU come in again.  If you know 60’s history, you know that the Weather Underground was an offshoot of SDS.  There was some disagreement in the late 60’s and members of the SDS - Bill Ayers and his wife - left and formed/ joined the Weather Underground.

So now I am wondering: do Rathke and Ayers know each other (from SDS / Weather Underground days)? what is the connection now, if any, between them? between ACORN and SEIU? between them and Senator Obama?

Wade Rathke admits to meeting Ayers and Dohrne at least once October 13, 2008 in his “Right Wing Rant ” on his Community Organizer website.

Having been in the same room once with Bill Ayers and Bernadine Doehrn in 1969 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, I guess, as Gail Collins wrote today, we’re all on the hook these days for something according to the right wing ranters.”
CAN WE FIND ANY OTHER MEETINGS, FREEPERS?

Inviting, yea, demanding investigation..... get real. By whom? Where are the indictments of Jefferson? Who gave Raines the smack on the hand? Where are the investigations of Bwanny Frank and his lover? Where did Gorelick go? Where is Delay (who was never indicted, convicted or found guilty of anything?). This is all a set up by the Congress to cover their own asses, laugh at us and take the money?

Weather Underground broke off of Students for a Democratic(communist) Society because WU was too violent for SDS. Bill Ayers was for the open killing of Police and Military to overthrow the gummit.

Greta is looking for proof so she can go on the air with it.

Interesting how Greta has found a group of willing volunteers to do her work. I remember the days when investigative reporting used to be a paid job. I guess times are tough in the new business these days.

Did Wade Rathke Use ACORN to Settle A Personal Grudge Against Hillary Clinton?
October 13, 2008 |
At a crucial moment in the Democratic primaries, ACORN announced that it would be endorsing Barack Obama, possibly destroying any meaningful chance Hillary would have had to win Ohio. Did Wade Rathke’s ACORN support Obama, at least in part, as a means to settle a score with Hillary? Below is a quote regarding a case Hillary fought against Rathke back in the days of the Rose Law Firm.

The ability to argue all sides of an issue is a hallmark of the lawyerly mind. Hillary’s ability to assert moral residency on different ideological sides of an issue showed itself soon after she joined the Rose firm. The Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now, a group that works on behalf of the poor, had helped pass a local ballot initiative that gave low-income residents a break on utility bills and increased rates for businesses. Wanting to put a quick stop to this handout, the business community called upon its lawyers at the Rose Law Firm and asked them to defeat the ordinance in court.

Hillary soon found herself battling ACORN’s founder — and her close friend — Wade Rathke in court. Deftly marshaling constitutional theory, she convinced the judge that the ordinance constituted an unlawful taking of property. The law was nullified. Wade Rathke never spoke to Hillary again. For Hillary, though, the matter seemed entirely impersonal: She has maintained strong connections with ACORN and works with them today on minimum wage and election reform issues. She fought with and defeated a friend in court. That’s business. That’s what lawyers do. [LINK]

Hmm. Alhough ACORN did help Hillary win her Senate seat in NYC, so who knows.

the ideology of liberation theology

This is a little off target, but can anybody provide a reference for a definition of liberation theology?

I think McCain was smart to say that - all day long - all these "expert" pundits were saying that he had to hit Obama on Ayers. I'm sure Obama & his people worked all day long on perfecting his answer to this - probably at the expense of working on other answers. When McCain fluffed the Ayers thing off & went to work on other issues - I think it caught Obama off his performance. I'm sure McCain has commercials ready to roll that will hit him on this issue.

Good observation. Mention it to peak interest and follow up with more details later. You can only do so much in 90 seconds.

On ACORN"S website RATHKE writes:

so Rathke at least admits he's been in the same room with Ayers. I wonder what was happening in that room in Ann Arbor. 1969, must have been SDS meeting

http://www.mb-soft.com/believe/txn/liberati.htm

"Liberation theologians agree with Marx's famous statement: "Hitherto philosophers have explained the world; our task is to change it." They argue that theologians are not meant to be theoreticians but practitioners engaged in the struggle to bring about society's transformation. In order to do this liberation theologyemploys a Marxist-style class analysis, which divides the culture between oppressors and oppressed. This conflictual sociological analysis is meant to identify the injustices and exploitation within the historical situation. Marxism and liberation theology condemn religion for supporting the status quo and legitimating the power of the oppressor. But unlike Marxism, liberation theology turns to the Christian faith as a means for bringing about liberation. Marx failed to see the emotive, symbolic, and sociological force the church could be in the struggle for justice. Liberation theologians claim that they are not departing from the ancient Christian tradition when they use Marxist thought as a tool for social analysis. They do not claim to use Marxism as a philosophical world view or a comprehensive plan for political action. Human liberation may begin with the economic infrastructure, but it does not end there."

Obamanation lies and cover-ups!! Article linked below was from a few days ago -- shows Obama's website first blatantly lying and then retreating without acknowledgement to a weaker claim that Obambi was not "hired" by ACORN:

================================================

Obama Campaign Involved in More Cover-Ups in ACORN Scandal

The mere fact that his campaign has now changed the language of the site shows that they have conceded the fact that their original remark was a bold-face lie. As a lawyer Sen. Obama should know the importance of language.

The original statement implied that he had no working connection with ACORN, whereas the new statement now insists that he has never been employed or hired by ACORN.

It is good to see the truth finally come out now, but why were they trying to hide his association with ACORN, and what else is Obama lying to us about? Perhaps the biggest question now is how and why they got the Social Policy article stricken from most of the world wide web in the first.place. What are they trying to hide?

McCain directed the thought flow from Ayers to knowing the truth about the past. His delivery isnt great, but he has a plan. He cut to the heart of the fraud- lack of truth, lack of honesty and transparency. And as an aside, I now understand why McCain himself is not going after Wright. It is all about the race card that he isnt allowing them to play on that issue.

Alternate website:
http://progressivesforobama.net/

Four members of the Vietnam War-era domestic terror group Weatherman — Howard Machtinger, Jeff Jones, Steve Tappis and Mark Rudd are here:

PROGRESSIVES FOR OBAMA
Established in March 2008, Progressives For Obama (PFO) was co-founded by Tom Hayden (a Students for a Democratic Society organizer who collaborated with North Vietnamese Communists during the Vietnam War and organized riots at the 1968 Democratic Party Convention in Chicago); Danny Glover (an actor and leftist ideologue who has ardently supported the regimes of Venezuela's Hugo Chavez and Cuba's Fidel Castro); Barbara Ehrenreich (Honorary Chairwoman of the Democratic Socialists of America, or DSA); and Bill Fletcher, Jr. (a former Maoist and current DSA leader who serves as executive editor of Black Commentator, and who co-founded the Black Radical Congress, which has close ties to the Communist Party USA).

PFO’s initial mission was to help Senator Barack Obama defeat his chief Democrat rival, Hillary Clinton, in the quest to win the party's presidential nomination. Said PFO at its inception:

“Clinton's most bizarre claim is that Obama is unqualified to be commander-in-chief. Clinton herself never served in the military, and has no experience in the armed services apart from the Senate armed services committee. Her husband had no military experience before becoming President. In fact, he was a draft opponent during Vietnam, a stance we respected. She was the first lady, and he the governor, of one of our smallest states. They brought no more experience, and arguably less, to the White House than Obama would in 2009.”

After Mrs. Clinton conceded defeat to Obama in the summer of 2008, PFO turned its attention to beating Republican presidential candidate John McCain.

Claiming to represent “the proud tradition of independent social movements that have made America a more just and democratic country,” PFO exhorts “all American progressives” to “unite for Barack Obama.” The organization condemns “the narrow interests of private corporations in an unregulated global marketplace,” and instead favors “globalizing the values of equality, a living wage and environmental sustainability in the new world order, not hoping our deepest concerns will be protected by trickle-down economics or charitable billionaires.” “The Obama campaign,” said PFO in March 2008, “will stimulate a vision of globalization from below.”

A key element of the PFO platform calls for the Iraq War to “end as rapidly as possible, not in five years.” “All our troops must be withdrawn,” says PFO. “Diplomacy and trade must replace further military occupation or military escalation into Iran and Pakistan.”

PFO also views military action in Afghanistan as unwarranted, advising against “simply transfer[ring] American combat troops from the quagmire in Iraq to the quagmire in Afghanistan.”

In its literature, PFO refers to the “war on terrorism” with sneer quotes, to indicate that it is an unnecessary war fabricated for political reasons by President George W. Bush:

“The Bush Administration has replaced the cold war with the ‘war on terrorism,’ led by the same military-industrial complex that President Eisenhower warned against. The reality and public fear of terrorism today is no less real than fear of communism and nuclear annihilation a generation ago.”

In PFO’s calculus, American military interventions in Muslim countries can serve only to increase “the vast number of violent jihadists against us” and to put Americans “at permanent risk of another 9/11 attack.”

PFO’s prescribed remedy for international strife is for America to “turn towards peace and conflict resolution in the Middle East and the Muslim world.” The organization proposes, as two concrete steps for a move in that direction, that the U.S. commit itself to: (a) “getting out of Iraq” at the earliest possible convenience, and (b) “sponsoring a two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians.”

PFO seeks to help Obama by raising funds for his campaign, using the Internet to reach “millions of swing voters,” and defending their candidate against negative advertising. “Progressives can make a difference in close primary races like Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Oregon and Puerto Rico, and in the November general election,” say PFO’s founders, who consider it “crucial to form a grassroots leftist movement to ensure Obama does not stray too far to the center.” They claim, moreover, that previous grassroots liberal movements successfully pressured past U.S. presidents to implement policy changes:
“It was the industrial strikes and radical organizers in the 1930s who pushed Roosevelt to support the New Deal. It was the civil rights and student movements that brought about voting rights legislation under Lyndon Johnson and propelled Eugene McCarthy and Bobby Kennedy's antiwar campaigns. It was the original Earth Day that led Richard Nixon to sign environmental laws.”

A key member of PFO’s leadership is its Internet webmaster Carl Davidson — a Marxist who is also a national steering committee member of United for Peace and Justice, a prominent member of the Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism, an admirer of Fidel Castro, and a former vice president of Students for a Democratic Society.

Other notable supporters of PFO include: Senator Bernie Sanders (the only openly socialist member of the U.S. Senate); political scientist Andrew Hacker (author of the 1992 book Two Nations: Black and White, Separate, Hostile, Unequal); Leslie Cagan (the pro-Castro co-chair of United For Peace and Justice); and four members of the Vietnam War-era domestic terror group Weatherman — Howard Machtinger, Jeff Jones, Steve Tappis and Mark Rudd.

Ayer’s wife, Bernadine Dohrn = Domestic Bin Laden

From;

http://www.sodahead.com/question/155269/

Bernadine Dohrn made numerous contacts with Fidel Castro’s Cuban Mission at the UN in 1968 and 1969, during which time she arranged for SDS groups to visit Havana.

After returning from Cuba, Dohrn and others met with North Vietnamese and Viet Cong representatives in Budapest, Hungary, to discuss antiwar strategy on US campuses. Speaking a few days later at an assembly of revolutionary student movements at Columbia University, Dohrn reported that the Vietnamese communists she met in Budapest were working with US GIs in Saigon, attempting to obtain military information.

As a gesture of solidarity, the Vietnamese who Dohrn met in Budapest presented her with a ring made from an American aircraft shot down over North Vietnam. Bill Ayers would receive a similar ring while meeting with Vietnamese communists in Toronto. He later recalled being so moved by the gesture that he “left the room to cry.” He said, “I realized...America was an evil... and that I was... living inside the belly of the beast....”

In January 1969, at the request of the Cubans and the Vietnamese, Dohrn assembled another SDS delegation to travel to Havana to plan what the Chicago Sun-Times called an “antiwar campaign during an eight-day seminar with representatives of Hanoi and the Viet Cong.”

Dohrn became a key planner in the founding of the Venceremos Brigades. Ostensibly a “solidarity” program for US leftists to visit and support Castro’s Cuba, the group was actually organized by Cuban intelligence as a covert attack on US security.

Cuban secret police offered the “brigadistas” money, advice and logistical support. Some Americans were also given guerrilla warfare training and instructed in the use of weapons and explosives.

While they were in Cuba, Huynh Van Ba, a representative of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of South Vietnam (Viet Cong) advised his American allies to “look for the person who fights hardest against the cops.” Dohrn stayed in telephone contact with Ba after returning home.

Falling in Love Again

A response to “A Basic Income for All”by Philippe van Parijs.

Wade Rathke

I love this guy! I love the concept of “work fetishism.” I love the notion that somebody, somewhere, somehow may really be worried about, and working on, a public program that would assure “a natural and attractive way of ensuring a fair distribution of real freedom.” That may be my definition of heaven on earth. But I’m also just the kind of guy who could fall hard for the “universal basic income” scheme.

Yes, the left-wing "Social Policy" journal apparently scrubbed the article by radical ACORN leader Foulkes (I tried to verify myself on the Social Policy website but they require registration and I didn't care to register even as Mickey Mouse at the present time):

==================================================================

Barack Obama's Involvement with ACORN Unearthed, Missing Article Recovered

Attempts to hide evidence of Obama's involvement with ACORN have included wiping the web clean of potentially damaging articles that had appeared, and were previously publicly accessible. Unfortunately, those behind the attempted cover-up failed to realize that in today's day and age, nothing disappears forever. There also exists another layer of the web, the hidden web, which is full of information included in proprietary scholarly databases where these very same "missing" articles can be easily uncovered.

Obama's campaign website states:

Fact: Barack was never an ACORN trainer and never worked for ACORN in any other capacity.

Is that really a FACT, or just another lie? Let's take a look at a quote from a 2004 article - Case Study: Chicago- The Barack Obama Campaign - written by Toni Foulkes, a Chicago ACORN Leader, which was published in the journal Social Policy. Did we mention that Social Policy recently pulled this particular article from their website, while leaving links to all other articles up?
