The day was unbelievable....ALMOST as unbelievable as to what goes into these debates! Holy moly. I can only imagine how much money these things cost!
Anywho..... I arrived an hour early and the wait was heck. We were all to meet in the parking lot at 3:30, where the buses, which ran every 15 minutes, brought everybody to get credentialed. We arrived at our destination, then had to walk through the 1st security check point (we were given our id badges by the campaign prior to boarding the bus). We then walked on over to our "homebase"...which was about a 30 foot walk from the auditorium. Of course, we then had to go through another security check point. There must have been Nassau PD, NY State Troopers and Secret Service every 2 feet...from "street beat" all the way to the top.
I must admit, I was a tad overwhelmed, although it could have been all the caffine I ingested on top of my adrenaline, lol.
We went down to "homebase" where they advised us of the different jobs we were responsible for. 1- Sign holder in the Spin Room (my job) 2- Rally Supporter (they had to go stand w/ the NOBAMA animals..I received email updates and doesnt sound pretty) 3- Copiers (they copied all the updates to get out to the media) 4- Runners (they ran all the said copies to the media).
Once we had our jobs, we were all pretty nervous about performing them perfectly. Then they gave us Sign Holders our maps (they indicated all media locations). We had to go out, walk around while studing the maps to get an idea where everything was. It sounded MUCH more difficult than it actually was. The job was pretty easy (standing there holding your sign, lol).
Our job didn't start until 9:45, so we were out and about, walking around, "stalking" the Fox peeps, trying to get pics with them.
They had this huge food/drink tent....EVERYTHING WAS FREE!!! They even had beer!!!(We didn't have a beer until our job was complete, to toast a wonderful day).
We didn't really get to speak to anyone, everyone was pretty much walking around preparing. The media commentators were doing their thing and yapping for a few hours prior to the debate, some were running around doing interviews with the polititians.
I'm sure I left a lot out, but I want to get to the pics....
Me at homebase with my sign for the spin room (Steve Schmidt, McCains campaign Manager)....
Just me, all excited at homebase....
Outside Media Setup (that is the upper level, ground level was behind that)....
Me holding the sign for my 1st "true love"...Fred Thompson (no he wasn't there..darn it!!!)....
My 2 new Conservative Buddies (Conservative Party from my own town!!! I will be joining, but that's another thread!)...
Sean and Mitt prior to Hannity & Colmes....
He's so handsome, so here's another one!!....
Me and my new friend on the debate stage. I was pretending to be McCain, and he was you know who....
Please fire away any questions. I am terrible at telling stories, I leave out all detail and get right to the point!
Awesome! Thanks for the peek behind the scenes.
Cool. Thanks for sharing. Looked like you had a good time and the pics were great.
A “This is a GREAT POST” BTTT !!
Thanks so much for the great pictures and the report!
(You are very pretty.)
I bet you had a great time.
Thanks for the pictures. Who’s the good looking chick in the pictures?
Good job!..Thanks!
AWESOME PICS!!!
My daughter goes to Hofstra and was able to get a ticket to the debate. She ended up sitting behind Hillary Clinton and (although she didnt know it at the time) the governor of NY. She said the debate was intense and that she had never felt 90 minutes go by so fast! She also said the president of Hofstra supposedly gave up his seat for a student.
What were your impressions of the school and the way it contributed to the debate?
You totally lucky dog! I would have given a whole lot to be in your shoes last night!
Great job! Was your sign for the great Steve Schmidt? If so, did you get to meet him?
What a great experience. Congrats to you!
God bless you! It’s wonderful to see young people volunteering and getting involved in the process. Thanks for the great report.
Excellent pictures! I’m so glad you had a good time!
What was the point of the signs you and others were holding?
