Only a cynic would dismiss a presidential debate as a mere television show. You would have to be naive, though, to ignore the drama of these events: Two people enter an arena. Only one will emerge as the protagonist of our national life also known as the President.
In Final Debate, Can McCain Rattle an Imperturbable Foe? For the first 30 minutes of last night's final debate, a sharper, more spirited John McCain took on Barack Obama. He had a clear message of low taxes and smaller government. He targeted an equally clear-cut audience: Joe the Plumber. (A real guy, who must be dodging every local news crew within 100 miles today.) McCain henpecked by an incumbent he never liked, a dire economy he can't control and a newcomer with less baggage than the Tooth Fairy suddenly seemed free from worry. He remembered his years as a leading man in those dramatic episodes of yesteryear campaign-finance reform, the Gang of 14 and he was glad to reprise his role as The Fighter. For the first time since the Republican convention (just six weeks ago, though to him it must feel like years), John McCain was in control of the narrative.
The problem for McCain was that no matter how hard or how crisply he punched, it would not last. In the end, the gravity of the debate returned to Obama. The turning point was when McCain finally brought up the issue of Obama's ties to former antiVietnam War terrorist William Ayers. All McCain accomplished was to swing the spotlight away from himself back to the engaging newcomer. Predictably, Obama had a mild answer ready as straightforward and uncontroversial as it was soothing. Was it entirely candid? Who asks that of Cary Grant?

They are both paid to pretend to be something/someone they are not.
Can I throw a speculative Daily KO’s-esque barb out there about the Obama/Davis relationship.
Could it be possible that Barack Obama is a “down-low” or closeted homosexual?
Davis was Obama’s mentor in Hawaii for 9 years (1970-79) and had a profound influence on his political, social and economic agenda. Per the FBI, Davis was a Communist and a pedophile.
There is an affadavit from Larry Sinclair that he was approached by Donald Young, the choir director of Rev. Wright’s church, an open homosexual.
Donald Young was found murdered on December 23, 2007.
Arkancide?
I think you are confusing Cary Grant with Rock Hudson. Grant passed away from a massive cerebral hemorrhage, after a stroke.
“Judy, Judy, Judy...”
As everyone knows, Cary Grant’s birth name was ARCHIE LEACH so TIME nailed it.
Given that a leech is a BLOOD-SUCKING PARASITE, that puts Obama in the correct area of the animal world.
Leeches are annelids comprising the subclass Hirudinea. There are fresh water, terrestrial, and marine leeches. Like the Oligochaeta, they share the presence of a clitellum. Like earthworms, leeches are hermaphrodites.
The European Medical Leech (Hirudo medicinalis) and some congeners as well as some other species have been used for clinical bloodletting for thousands of years, although most leeches do not feed on human blood, but on small invertebrates, which they eat whole.
Haemophagic leeches attach to their hosts and remain there until they become full, at which point they fall off to digest. A leech’s body is composed of 34 segments. They all have an anterior (oral) sucker formed from the first six segments of their body, which is used to connect to a host for feeding, and also release an anesthetic to prevent the host from feeling the leech. They use a combination of mucus and suction (caused by concentric muscles in those six segments) to stay attached and secrete an anti-clotting enzyme into the host’s blood stream.
I had to question myself last night after the debate. I thought McCane was the cool one and Bambi acted like a middle schooler at his first debate.

I saw a very weak, uncomfortable man. To me, he almost seemed defeated. He was a little incoherent at times as well. At times he pretended to be up, but there's something different with his non verbals. It was like his "zest" was gone.
I saw the same problem with the pundants afterwords. They said one thing, but looked as if they were straining to say it. They were saying Oboma was masterful, but at the same time they looked like they had guns to their heads.
Call me an optimist, but what I hear and what I see are two different things. Am I alone on this?
You're probably thinking of Rock Hudson, who did die of AIDS. As for Cary Grant, Wikipedia says, "Grant was preparing for a performance at the Adler Theater in Davenport, Iowa on the afternoon of November 29, 1986 when he suffered a massive cerebral hemorrhage. He had suffered a minor stroke in October 1984. He died later that night at St. Luke's Hospital at age 82."
That was a classic moment of Obama dismissing another with no emotion. He looking down and it was like a “yeah yeah” answer we give when we simply don't care about something and want it to go away.
His coldness seems so much like I remember those in the Kremlin/communist leaders seeming when I saw them on TV as a child. Without a heart or compassion toward others. Scary and malevolent.
Yeah. Didn't it seem like Oboma had some kind of a problem or something? Maybe now that ACORN is under investigation, his dreams of the presidency are fading, and fading fast. They may not be able to steal the presidency for him after all.
Wrong.
I thought 0bama looked scared, not cool. He did not look confident at all.
His answers were robotic and just a jumble of meandering talking points.
Rush said it right - there is NO passion in Obama.
To me Obama looked cold, calculating ,” I have been appointed president so I couldn’t care less about McCain or the American people”
McCain could have expanded on some of his points but overall I thought he was good!
FOX News pundits where the biggest disappointment. I’m not sure what debate they watched!! They are the new main stream media!
“Ive been with Cary Grant, he had class and its a positive insult to his memory to even suggest this empty suit has anything in common with him”
ooooh - Please tell us more . . . (What’s the definition of “been with”?)
; )
I agree. He is cold.
I know. I watched it on CSpan to make sure I would hear the both of them. I looked at Fox to hear what they had to say after and was completely shocked. It’s like we weren’t watching the same debate. Talk about personal agendas. There were many.
