America’s financial future is on the line (Yazoo, MS)

The American people have lost faith in their government. You can tell this by looking at Wall Street. The approval ratings for Congress swings between 9-13 percent. Congress passed a 850-billion dollar "rescue" package and the stock market fell another 800 points. We have "nationalized" the home mortgage business. Uncle Sam now controls this industry, for better or worse, and I’m betting it’s for the worse. When Congress nationalizes the health care industry, expect to get the same results. No wonder Americans don’t trust big government.

Capitalism did not cause the problems we are facing today. Had the government used capitalistic economic principles, our economy would be humming along today like a new Singer sewing machine. But in 2006, the Democrat Party returned to Washington with their virulent leftist agenda, and within a year of their return, the economy was on the skids – skids I must say were greased with the finest axle grease that money can buy.

Democrat Congressman Barney Frank, one of the leading socialists in the House of Representatives, held hearings to determine what was going on with Freddie and Fannie. Democrat members of his committee declared unequivocally that there was nothing wrong over at these two unconstitutional quasi-governmental agencies. In fact, that stalwart of banking knowledge, Maxine Waters, (D-California) said that "Fannie Mae was doing fine under the excellent leadership of then CEO Franklin Raines. This was at the same time Raines was siphoning off nearly 100 million dollars in salary.

I’ve never given much credence to conspiracy theories or folklore, but in this case, if the Democrats continue on the course they have set this nation, I might just have to modify my thinking concerning 2012. With Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Henry Waxman, Maxine Waters, Chuck Schumer and President Obama in charge of the economy, who knows?

We may hope that the ancient Mayan prediction is correct.
