Murtha: Western Pa. 'racist' but Obama should win

PITTSBURGH (AP) — U.S. Rep. John Murtha says his home base of western Pennsylvania is racist and that could reduce Barack Obama's victory margin in the state by 4 percentage points.
The 17-term Democratic congressman tells the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in a story posted Wednesday on its Web site that, as he put it: "There is no question that western Pennsylvania is a racist area."

"There are a significant number of older folks who are not as enthusiastic about Barack Obama," said Frank Rosenhoover, Democratic chairman of Blair County. "A lot of people say, ’Well, you know.’ I think there’s still some degree of racism, some subtle bias.
"I don’t think we will ever swing Blair County, even if the Lord himself came down with a big ’D’ on his chest," he said. "But I think we’re going to surprise a lot of people."

You're right, after he called out the Haditha Marines and pressured the Corps to go after these guys after they had been initially exonerated, I lost any respect I had for him.

I heard about this when driving home from work yesterday. I won’t repeat what I kept yelling at the radio in my truck, but it wasn’t nice.
I’m now living in Murtha’s district and am as jazzed up to vote for Russell as I am McCain/Palin.
I hate to get personal but Murtha is a bloated old turd and a disgrace to the uniform that he once wore.
