SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - "They walked in here just mounding up cards," said Registrar of Voters for Caddo Parish, Ernie Roberson while looking over a box full of thousands of voter registration cards. "They" are a group called Voting is Power, that went door to door in Caddo Parish to register people to vote, "They turned in about 8600 applications, out of that number 1400 new ones, sorted out the new and then we had around 1400 address changes, the rest of them were non existent," says Roberson.
Before the organization ACORN appeared in the headlines for reported registration fraud, VIP caught the attention of Louisiana authorities over the summer. "They swamped all of us with a lot of applications but we haven't had the problem since we aggressively started dealing with that group and I think they just picked up and left Louisiana," says Roberson.
The Louisiana Secretary of State's Office is investigating the group, Voting is Power. The Secretary of State won't comment on the investigation, only to say all the findings will be turned over to the parish district attorneys in the parishes where the cards were turned in. The fear here in Caddo is: The damage has already been done "What I'm afraid of is a lot of people think they are registered, and that's going to cause problems on election day," says Roberson. That's because many of the applications turned in, even with real names, were incomplete. A big headache that's resulting in thousands of man hours. "It costs money, democracy is very expensive whenever you have to sort through hundreds and even thousands of forms that are either duplicates or completely bogus that costs us time. Ultimately costing the tax payer money.
ACORN means fraud!
The one bright spot in the ACORN fraud movement is we might finally get a national law that you have to show picture ID with signature before you vote.
The other bright spot, maybe all funding to ACORN can be shut off - I know, I’m dreaming!!
Good grief this is disgusting. If this one is close, I can see lawsuits (our side this time). We’ll be lucky to name a President-elect in time for the inauguration.
....there have always been jokes about ward-heelers registering the “grave yard vote” but this is ridiculous!....the Dems have made this a total part of their political effort....bring back literacy tests/poll tax!
I tried a quick check in “Search” function and found a title describing a Muslim organization apparently associated with C.A.R.E. with that name, but when I clicked on it...”error 404”...Nothing available.
I meant to type C.A.I.R.
Probably not going to happen, but it would be better to postpone the election a couple of weeks to root out the fraud.
An illegitimate outcome could be very dangerous.
That doesn’t apply to mail in votes and that is where they do the most harm.

Voting is Power
Islam mandates every Muslim to be unequivocally committed to social justice. Civic engagement may be the most powerful way to fulfill that mandate in a democracy. Our collective involvement with the electoral process allows us as a community to express our views, and influence the laws and policies which govern America.
On the other hand, our lack of enthusiasm to participate in the political process makes us vulnerable to laws and politicians that may subvert our rights.
In recent years, many dangerous laws were passed in the name of national security. The Congress passed the USA PATRIOT Act, new repressive immigration laws and profiling measures are considered, and intrusive Presidential Executive Orders are released regularly. Whether these laws and policies increase our national security is highly questionable. But these have been widely used to profile and persecute Muslims in America.
Many politicians, like Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO) and Pete King (R-NY), and highly placed government officials like General Boykin, have made Muslim-bashing part of their everyday rhetoric, with no repercussion. In our domestic and foreign policies, we have made it acceptable to attack Muslims.
Only with our vigorous commitment to the electoral process, we can begin to change this unfavorable climate. This website is dedicated to that end to inform and empower the Muslim Americans on the politics, legal issues, candidates and elections at Federal and State levels, and thereby to become a catalyst for positive change.
Please use this website extensively and inform others about it. We will continue to enrich it with more and more information useful to the Muslim American and other voters.
If you have comments and questions about the issues discussed here, or issues we may have overlooked, please let us know. This is your home on the internet for all issues pertaining to voting and civic empowerment because Voting is Power!

Corruption in Caddo Parish? That’s really hard to believe.
LOL
Now I understand what Obama was when he was a Junior Community Organizer; he was a fraudster.
How do you think we got Mary Landrieu in the first place?
The CO in ACORN stands for Community Organization.
