Some of McCain's economic proposals he outlined in Pennsylvania today:
* Suspend rules mandating that investors must begin to sell off their IRAs and 401(k)s when they reach 70 1/2 years old.
* Cut the tax rate for retirement-account withdrawals to 10%.
* Reduce the tax rate on capital gains to 7.5%.
* Reduce the reduce the federal business tax rate from 35% to 25%.
* Eliminate taxes on unemployment benefits.
As for rhetoric, this passage stands out:
This weekend, a plumber concerned that Senator Obama was going to raise his taxes asked him directly about his plan. The response was telling. Senator Obama explained to him that he was going to raise his taxes to quote "spread the wealth around." This explains how Senator Obama can promise an income tax cut for millions who aren't even paying income taxes right now. My friends, my plan isn't intended to force small businesses to cut jobs to pay higher taxes so we can "spread the wealth around." My plan is intended to create jobs and increase the wealth of all Americans.
Probably a story we'll hear at tomorrow's debate.
The Obama camp responded:

But, this plan better be center-stage tomorrow in the debate.
He needs to defend it big-time and contrast it with Obama.
I have been disappointed in his debate performances because it has lacked basically everything in terms of telling us what EXACTLY he would propose.
We need specifics. He needs to connect with the voters tomorrow.
BTW, McCain should point out that tax credits are NOT tax cuts.
They just make the tax code even MORE complicated.
Obama’s “TAX CUTS” aren’t anything of the sort.
Not really.....that is something else entirely.
But, he will try to act like it is the same.
should this be breaking? McCain laid out his econ plan today.
Also, he needs to hammer home the point that middle class taxpayers WILL pay higher taxes under the Obama plan. That’s not a matter of opinion but a fact—the Bush tax cuts expire, your taxes go up. Period.
The lie that health benefits will be taxed is so breathtaking, why doesn’t he refute that as well? Completely untrue.
Very solid. Money would flood from those European banks not to mention Asia.
This would be a tremendous boom to the economy.
But is anyone listening?
I hope so.
Sounds close to my proposals, which wer to cut business taxes to 25% max, and individual rates to max at 25%.
I also suggested he eliminate the death tax and all taxes on capital gains.
But, it’s a start.
P.S., maybe you can win by offering land reform. Some elections in Central America have been won that way and I always wanted my neighbor's home.
(yes, that is sarcasm.)
Hillary Clinton: “We're going to take things away from you for the common good.”
Karl Marx: “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.”
Saul Alinsky: “Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom Lucifer.”
Did Obama say that’s not the plumber he knew?
This is a consequence of many years of "warfare using feathers" in the senate.
5 good ideas (replies) from you in a row!!!
Excellent...Needs to be a Rally Banner!
He’s had since last February to present the plan he took from Romney’s, and contrast it against what liberal Democrats Øbama or Clinton would predictably do, McCain just figured out what he is up against...
THIS is what I’ve been waiting to see.
If Obama says his redistributive tax policy is about fairness again, McCain should just tell him “no, its theft.”
I emailed this “advertisement suggestion” to McCain camp this morning with the hope of getting them to rethink what they have been doing:
SCENE ONE:
McCain Campaign rally -— Republican comes to the microphone and says, “You have to tell people that Obama has worked with and for ACORN for YEARS, and that ACORN is responsible for causing the mortgage crisis and rampant voter fraud that may steal the election.”
McCain responds, “I’m not going there.”
SCENE TWO:
McCain Campaign rally -— Republican comes to the microphone and says, “You have to tell people that Obama’s ‘tax cut’ is really a REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH SCHEME that takes money away from earners and sends government checks to people who don’t pay ANY TAXES already.”
McCain responds, “I’m not going there.”
SCENE THREE:
McCain standing off at a distance looking wistfully toward the White House and finally wishing he had listened to his base.
McCain sighs and says, “I’m not going there.”
PLEASE WAKE UP BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!!!!!!!!!
The Capital Gains tax cut alone will eliminate the credit crisis.
