"New York, NY-- Thanks to a private bank initiative, it is now possible for undocumented immigrants to the United States to purchase a home, without having a Social Security Number.

A new program, it will now help those immigrants who have not been able to purchase a home, and to help them achieve the American Dream.

For a very long time, Elena Hernandez did not have the illusion of being able to buy a home, not because she did not want to, but because she did not have legal immigration papers. The Mexican immigrant said "I knew that for me, the door was closed for me to purchase because I did not have a SSN, and without an SSN, you know you cannot do anything," she said.

Traditionally, undocumented who wanted to buy a home in the United States had to resort to underhanded means, such as with false documents, or with the help of other persons....

But now thanks to the Citigroup, in alliance with a group ACORN, the Asociation de Organizaciones Comunitarias para Reformas", they are able to help immigrants to buy homes who do not even have Social Security numbers.....

hummm....I wonder if ACORN was one of the organizations Bush referred to as “cooperating” in his 2002 push for an “Ownership Society”. If so...how involved were they?

....”The National Association of Home Builders will team up with local officials, home builder associations and community groups in 20 of our nation’s largest housing markets, to focus on how to eliminate barriers, and encourage homeownership.

The Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation will dramatically expand financial and home buyer education efforts to 380,000 minority families. The Neighborhood Housing Services of America will raise $750 million to promote homeownership initiatives in many communities. We’re beginning to use the Internet better, so that realtors all across the country will be able to call up programs all designed to help minority home buyers understand what’s available, what’s possible, and what to avoid. The National Realtors Association will create a central data bank of affordable housing programs, which will be made available to agents, real estate agents, to help people.

So these are some of the beginnings of a national effort. And I want to thank all those who are responsible for the organizations I just named for lending your talents to this important effort for America. You know, one of the things Presidents can do, is they can call the old conference. So I’m going to call one — (laughter) — just to make sure people understand, not only are we serious, but to let them check in. If they’ve signed up and said they’re going to help, this will give everybody a chance to say, here’s what I’ve done to help. It’s what we call accountability. (Applause.)

It is a White House conference that will not only say, what have you done to date, have you got any new ideas that we can share with others as well. I’m serious about this. We’re not going to talk about empowering government, we’re talking about empowering people, so they have got choices over their lives. (Applause.)”

I wonder, was ACORN invited to participate in this conference?

Japanese TV nationwide, prime time, in a documentary on the whole サブプライム危機 (sub prime crisis) was re-running that 2002 clip of President Bush proclaiming "Home Ownership Month", going over all the minority statistics, talking like a liberal, and saying that we need to lower the standards to get a mortgage so that all could have the American Dream.

The clip made him look like an IDIOT, and the Japanese commentary later on him in fact did seal the deal and made him look like a MORON on this issue.
