Congresswoman Schmidt More Seriously Hurt

Congresswoman Jean Schmidt Tri-State Congresswoman Jean Schmidt is back in Cincinnati after cutting short a trip to Afghanistan because of injuries suffered when she was hit by a car on Wednesday.
Schmidt was jogging on Loveland-Miamiville Road in Miami Township early that morning when a car went off the road and hit her. That car did not stop but another passing motorist offered the Congresswoman a ride to the hospital.
Doctors said she suffered cuts and bruises, so the Congresswoman went ahead with a planned visit to Afghanistan. But, during a stop at the US Air Force Base in Germany, Congresswoman Schmidt complained of severe pain and then fainted.
She was taken to a hospital where a CT scan revealed two fractured vertebrae and two broken ribs which were not previously detected. Schmidt was treated in Germany and flew back to Cincinnati.
The Congresswoman will have to undergo further treatment and rehab and has been ordered to conduct a reduced schedule until she is healed.
The Republican Schmidt is running for re-election against Democrat Victoria Wulsin and Independent David Krikorian.

no X-rays the first time?
Pretty easy. You have an emergency. You have to move quickly and judge what you can and can't do. The radiologist at the time may not look for any signs of minor injuries, but thoise that may be life threatening.
I can use myself as an example. I had a FORD Taurus turn in front of me in 1995. I was in a VW Bug. My neck and back suffered injury from the accident. I was taken to ememrgency where x-rays were done with nothing apparent to keep me from going home.
That is until the next day when my primary could look at the x-rays and see indications of the compression fractures in my neck and back that were not obvious to the radiologist. That explained the numbness in my fingers and, eventually, paralysis for a time.
The bone scan and the MRI confirmed C4 was broken in 3 pieces and C5 in half, T5 cracked and T6 in two pieces. You couldn't tell from the xrays, but my primary could. Saved my life.
If she wins re-election, the DUmmies will say she arranged her own accident in order to gain sympathy.
