IBD Editorial: The Coming Counter-revolution to Hush Alternative Media
Investor's Business Daily ^ | October 8, 2008 | Brian C. Anderson

Posted on 10/13/2008 10:09:37 AM PDT by St. Louis Conservative

Conservative-friendly media better get ready. Should Barack Obama win the presidency and the Democrats control Congress, as now seems likely, they will launch a full-scale war to drive critics — especially on political talk radio — right out of legitimate public debate.

Signs of what the new environment will be like for the right are already evident:

• When the National Rifle Association recently released television and radio ads in Pennsylvania targeting Obama's history of anti-gun votes, the Obama campaign's general counsel fired off bullying letters to stations that ran the spots, implying that they may have violated public-interest obligations.

• When the 527 group, the American Issues Project, came out with a commercial linking Obama to former Weather Underground terrorist William Ayers, the campaign (unsuccessfully) complained to the Department of Justice that AIP had broken campaign finance laws, and managed to spook some stations away from the ad.

• When two different conservative writers looking into Obama's background appeared on Chicago's WGN-AM Radio, the campaign's "action wire" energized its activists to bombard the station with rage-filled phone calls and e-mails, making the program more difficult to conduct.

You are making the assumption that there is any intelligence left in the public — I fear you are wrong.

Fairness Doctrine, wouldn’t that require CNN to hire 50% conservatives, conservative techs, conservative reporters, conservative on-air personalities? Woulnd’t it require 50% conservative ownership?

Sounds great.

Don’t overlook PBS/NPR. They’d have to lay off half their staffs.

Remember the reporter in Denver who was arrested for trying to report on Obama’s big-money backers?

Not on thier best day. The Uprising would overwhelm them.

My take is the airwaves the internet and the word of mouth,
cannot be owned without a fullscale revolt.

Bring it on!

Under Obamunism, anyone who desires to return the nation to which it was founded upon, included but not limited by any means to free speech, will be in fact be counter revolutionaries to the current values and policies.

I need a Constitutional expert - Is the fairness doctrine constitutional if it’s effect is to hamper one side of the debate? Is it too vague to pass 1st Amendment muster b/c someone has to decide “fairness”, which is inherently subjective.

I agree. It’s going to take a counter revolution to save America. That’s why we have to endure the worst of Obama-Mugabe. Let the oppression be wide spread.

Too many have taken our prosperity and freedoms for granted. Let us suffer. Let us become revolutionaries.

no the “Fairness Doctorine” specifically targets radio. BUT-when the issue comes up R’s should make sure that everyone understands that when they return to power-that TV and print media will also be subjected to a “Fair Fairness Doctorine”

Nope. The war has been here for at least 12 years. Only one side is fighting.

Which side is that? It ain’t us.

Of course it does.

My point is that if they want "fairness" in radio, we should demand "fairness" across the board. They already control every newspaper in America except maybe one. And every TV outlet in the country except maybe one. They've got 99% and they are determined to squeeze out that last 1%.

They are the ultimate monopoly and they aren't satisfied. They want it all.
