Palin Drops Puck at Flyers Game Receives Mixed Reaction
by Shushannah Walshe
PHILADELPHIA -
Sarah Palin has become known as The Most Famous Hockey Mom in America for her constant referral to herself on the stump as just a hockey mom. This evening, she met that title head on by dropping the first puck of the Philadelphia Flyers hockey season in their opener with the New York Rangers.
A carpet was laid down and Palin, dressed in a beige trench, walked on to the ice joined by her daughters Willow and Piper. The GOP Vice-Presidential nominee said at an earlier fundraiser that she would stop some of the booing from the rowdy Philadelphia fans by putting her seven year old daughter, Piper in a Flyers jersey. She said, How dare they boo Piper!
Her secret weapon may have worked. The crowd in this staunchly Democratic city visited today by Barack Obamagave Palin mixed reviews. There were audible boos over the very loud music and some in the crowd had their thumbs down, but there were also many people clapping and cheering the GOP Vice-Presidential nominee.

Thank you. Of course it was mixed, this idea Politico tried to spew about an “avalanche” of boos is silly.
Something about Hockey Mom’s what?
Two minute penalty for apostrophe abuse.
Thank me!
I saw the video on YiouTube, and describing it as a mixed reaction is putting a pretty happy face on it. The boos were clear and audible - deep in a dem city, I expect nothing more, really.
Add this to the fact that no matter what the sport, Philly fans stink, and you have to wonder who is making these calls in the McCain campaign. Have her drop the pick at a more GOP friendly city. Or at the very least, a city with even a bit of class.
Be it Hockey, baseball, or ECW Wrestling, Philly fans stink. It’s amazing that a schmoe like me could know that and that the McCain campaign evidently didn’t.
Just saw it. Boos were very loud and sustained, but Philly is a town of leftist nutjobs. Booing a woman and her children like that is pathetic.
Would she have been better off if she had dropped the puck at a Penguin’s game?
I disagree with you. Going deep into Obama territory proves her courage and she was IN THEIR FACES!!!
Sound familiar?
Welcome to FR.
I saw the video, and didn’t hear any boos.
Do you work for Obama?
You’ve got to be kidding me. Or yourself.
And give me ten push ups for unneccessary capitalization.
I can’t say a video clip of her getting roughed up by a Philly crowd is good marketing for her. It doesn’t exactly convey courage to me, sorry. Just makes her look bad.
OK your first post (which was today) reads:
“ObamaOsama bows to Allah and himself. Country isnt even on the radar.”
That’s arguably on the right track.
As I said, welcome to FR.
What is it exactly, which prompted you to wait until today to join, if you don’t mind?
I’d suggest an afternoon game with The Mighty Ducks - the non-freakly liberal OC, lots of kids and families. Safe! ;-)
Lots of recent sign-ups on this thread, “confirming” this bit of fluff.
So it makes her look bad?
Is that a good thing, to you?
Dennis Prager, one of my fave newstalk hosts, says that first we have to agree on facts, the truth, and then give our opinions.
Anyone who thinks that clip shows a positive reaction to Palin just isn’t connecting with the facts, sorry.
I don’t care, I like it!
Just disappointed that Sarah didn’t skate out in full gear and give ‘em a little idea of what hockey moms are all about!
Probably the same thing that prompted you to join. You can’t post if you don’t join.
Thanks for the welcome.
