Barack Obama's presidential campaign is getting a bargain for the half-hour of Oct. 29 primetime it's bought on CBS and NBC.
The Democratic presidential candidate's camp is paying under $1 million to each network to run the programming it will produce for the first half-hour of primetime that Wednesday night, less than a week before the election. This is considerably less than the networks would otherwise get for the 10-11 ad "units" they run during that half hour, between 8 and 8:30 p.m.
Obama is not getting a price break; the campaign will be charged what's called the "lowest unit cost," in compliance with federal law.

Thats 3 million for 3 spots, Im sure McCain has 3 million...he should do the same....
wonder what they would charge mccain?
McCain certainly should buy 30 min. on Oct. 30 at those same bargain prices...but he should let Sarah Palin give the speech. God love him...he’s a snoozer.
This is ridiculous. How can the networks be considered anything but shills.
If he doesn't, he will doubtlessly lose. Since it's that cheap, McCain should do all 4 networks(CBS,NBC,ABC, and FOX). Of course they will probably charge McCain 20 million per spot.
Astonishing that the networks didn’t pay Obama for the privilege.
McCain doesn’t have that kind of cash to throw around.
I agree that he’s a snoozer - I didn’t even watch his debate but I watch Sarah every chance I get.
Truth be told, I’m voting for Sarah.
If it is shown in Missouri, does Barry go to jail for lying about himself? I’m sure Delaware AG Biden would fight to make sure McCain gets the same deal for TV show time featuring Larry Sinclair.
I think McCain should buy air time for SEAN HANNITY to present the Obama Associations show, that would be better than Mac trying to explain it!
Looks like average rates for a 30 SECOND ad during primetime is $300,000 to $600,000.
Obama is surely getting a bargain.

The networks said that McCain can buy at the same price as Obama. Of course he would have to find a suitable time, preferably not stacked up against some high-rated show or football game.
And Obama has a LOT more money than McCain. Crooked bundlers, liberal billionaires, George Soros, Foreign money, you name it.
Finally, he gave a great speech at the convention, but he can’t do that one again. He’s just not a great speaker. And he can’t very well send Sarah against Obama, that would be a confession of his own weakness.
So, what to do? Maybe hope that Obama goes over the top like he did in Berlin, and turns people off?
His campaign doesn't have 3 or 4 million to spend?
They do, but it is better spent on 30 second ads.
Like I said months ago, the media went all in and McCain is still deciding on his final bet or waiting for his last card. It would be nice if he at least appeared he wanted to win.

Mao:
Revolution is not a dinner party, not an essay, nor a painting, nor a piece of embroidery; it cannot be advanced softly, gradually, carefully, considerately, respectfully, politely, plainly and modestly.
I don't think so. 30 minutes talking directly to the people unfiltered by the press would be devastating to the other candidate if gone unanswered by the other campaign in a close race. McCain MUST answer this with equivalent air time of his own if he wants to win.
