ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- A state legislative panel has concluded that Sarah Palin abused her power in the firing of the state's public safety commissioner.
The findings were released after lawmakers emerged Friday from a private session in Anchorage where they spent more than six hours discussing a politically charged ethics report into the firing by Gov. Palin.

Go away. Obama is black racist and an apprentice of Jeremiah Wright. Based on this alone he is going to lose the elections. Whites will not elect this racist to be a President.
Let’s calm down. If the mainstream news wants to make a big deal about this she will have the opportunity to respond to the whole thing in a public forum, now that it has been made public and she can talk about all the things he did. This will not be a great time for Wooten or Monaghan.
Look at the worst possible scenario. The legislature decides to impeach her. I assume the procedure is pretty much like the federal procedure. It seems to me that a lot of women across the United States would want to know why the system in Alaska would go to bat for a scumbag in lieu of a family that was threatened with and up to including death by a rogue trooper.
Personally, it could work for Palin’s benefit if handled properly. The very worst that could happened would be that she would be thrown out of office and then she could make a national name for herself as a woman who looked out for her family instead of being held back by a state bureaucracy.
Sometimes it is necessary to step over the line to get things done. If Wooten had killed one of her family would that have been better for her or or family? I doubt it.
Let the MSM take up their time attacking an innocent family instead of McCain. As I said it might be a net benefit.
Damn, bad news, very bad news.
And, iirc, this petitioning happened BEFORE Palin became Governor.
This entire incident preceded Palin's becoming governor. The only parts that happened after becoming governor were the firing of Monegan and Todd Palin's continued pursuit of a way to get his b-i-l fired as a trooper.
No, they are the GOOG OLD BOY NETWORK that she upset when she won and disrupted their corrupt little circus.
They lost oil bribes and now she's gonna pay.
What a pathetic NON-STORY!
Am I wrong in thinking the report’s findings goes way beyond the scope of the investigation? I thought the panel and Branchflower were charged with investigating her actions regarding Monehegan (sp). I did not read anything that said they were investigation her actions regarding Wooten.
Heard tonight on Fox someone said, Obambi would never be hired by CIA, FBI or secret Service cause of his connections with Ayers. HA!
Never thought about it that way...but known connections , repeatedly, with unsavory characters...uh, guess the FBI would be called racist, oh, wait...no they aren’t. THEY GE TO PICK WHO THEY WANT!
Say what you will, but this is a very bad story for McCain and Palin. They better get out in front of it this weekend. They need to start with a news conference early Saturday. Then him and her need to get on every news show they can over the weekend. She better get her side out quickly and do it repeatedly.
I am afraid there is just too much going against the republicans this year. Every time, McCain seems to be getting traction, something else hits (economy, this).
STATEMENT FROM MCCAIN-PALIN SPOKESWOMAN MEG STAPLETON
Friday, October 10, 2008
ARLINGTON, VA McCain-Palin 2008 spokeswoman Meg Stapleton issued the following statement on todays release of Stephen Branchflowers report:
Todays report shows that the Governor acted within her proper and lawful authority in the reassignment of Walt Monegan. The report also illustrates what weve known all along: this was a partisan led inquiry run by Obama supporters and the Palins were completely justified in their concern regarding Trooper Wooten given his violent and rogue behavior. Lacking evidence to support the original Monegan allegation, the Legislative Council seriously overreached, making a tortured argument to find fault without basis in law or fact. The Governor is looking forward to cooperating with the Personnel Board and continuing her conversation with the American people regarding the important issues facing the country.

Yes.
On page 2 of the report, it states [my bolding added] that the Contractor
"shall provide legal services to investigate the circumstances and events surrounding the termination of former Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan and potential abuses of power and/or improper actions by members of the executive branch. [...]"
