After days of watching in silence, McCain calms the crowd at his Minnesota town meeting.

“I want everyone to be respectful. And let’s make sure we are, because that’s the way politics is done in America.”

Tells one supporter who says he’s scared of an Obama presidency: “I have to tell you, he is a decent person, a person that you do not have to be scared [of] as president of the United States.”

After a woman calls Obama “an Arab,” McCain interrupts to say: “No, ma’am. He is a decent family man, citizen

McCain’s a loco maverick. Palin OTOH seems to be the real deal.

I forgot to include New Mexico in my list of states McCain/Palin can certainly win. My apologies to those living in the Land of Enchantment.

Obviously....no one with any brains as been hired to run a Republican political campaign.

Since they now have lost the Presidency, the House and Senate...a filibuster proof Senate.

“So I guess that’s why they had to move her Virginia rally to a bigger stadium for Monday? And the debate where she was stunning? Who cares about record ratings!”

You go, Miss Didi! I’m feeling ya in this thread! Earlier you mentioned having a drink? Why yes, I think a jack and coke is sounding good after reading this thread.

BRB with the ice clinking in my glass!

RE: These two posts:

“The media have trapped McCain. They send in stooges to yell (epithets?) against bho with cameras waiting to make it national. He has to put out these fires with grace or face the manufactured outrage.”

and —

“You are no doubt correct. These Democrats are the dirtiest low-down SOB’s known to man. McCain has to act like a gentleman and, in doing so, the ignorant among his “supporters” INCLUDING MANY FOOLS POSTING ON THIS SITE, turn on McCain!”

I wholeheartedly agree with these assessments. When hearing the entire episode myself, in context, it all made a lot more sense. I’m not giving up on McCain/Palin even if I am the last supporter remaining.

I am waiting for Obama to say “See McCain thinks I am a citizen” — that little word at the end made me start to wonder what is going on right now.

“He cannot give in to a question that attacks the character of Obama no matter what he personally thinks.”

The comment at the rally that McCain responded to about how people should not be afraid of Obama as President, was not about Obama’s character. It was about his judgement which is fair game. It was about his judgement in regard to what kind of judges he would nominate for the SCOTUS.

The press called the Cubans in Miami mobs too.

When they were protesting a small boy being returned to Castro by Clinton.

Republican protesting the recount in 2000 were mobs, as were those protesting the murder of Terri Shivo. I have never heard the press call anti-war groups, “mobs”.

Never.

As a matter of fact, the press goes out of its way to NOT show the public the angry faces of moonbats threatening President Bush, hanging him in effigy, signs wanting our troops dead, signs for Arafat and OBL.

Instead they interview women with children in strollers.

My gosh, are we going to give up that easily to that creepy Barry and his terrorist thug pals? Tomorrow Mac will say something that will cause us to cheer and then a week from next Tuesday he'll have us fuming again. Folks really need to look at the big picture here. President Hussein means no more America as we know it. And like I said—he'll get us all killed before 2012. If people don't like Mac, then run to vote for Sarah Palin like your life depended on it—because it does! Cheers!

If all those scenarios in your post come to pass under a Barack Obama administration, I see a civil war coming to America that will make the first one look like a Sunday afternoon in Disneyland in comparison.

“Your posts on this thread have been calm and poignant.”

Thanks. Good to know not EVERYONE thinks I am a troll because I don’t support McCain. I did for a while, and was ready to vote for him. I am truly convinced that he would do our country more harm than good in the long run. Obama will be a disaster but is our only chance of there being any tipping point.

Re: .........Wish more people on here understood Presidential campaigns and what is smart to say and what you leave to others while speaking live. Cannot believe anyone who knows how bad Obama is would get so mad about this to not want to vote. Makes me wonder at some of the comments that want to throw in the towel if they ever supported McCain/Palin.

Cannot be on the attack all the time while talking live — that is why you have ads and surrogates”

Thank you. You make good sense — I’m not writing off this election either — no way, no how, Nobama!

I have been making calls into other States for McCain (OK +41 for McCain) and the response has been great. Key is for us to GOTV for McCain/Palin and leave all the handwringers behind.

Only polls that count are internals and election day. Handwringing never won an election. When Dr. Tom Coburn ran, the liberal Dem went to the right of Coburn so much that people in surrounding states thought Carson was the conservative. He had a truck with a gun rack he only used when he ran for office. Stupid NRA bought into him and endorsed the Dem and lost a lot of support in OK as the GOA went for Coburn. Polls showed Dr. Coburn losing big right before the election but he won going away. If he had listened to all the naysayers, he would have quit campaigning as they said he couldn’t win.

My concern is, McCain has just killed any momentum he had this last week or so. Now, the Obama-mites can render any further commercials about Ayers, ACORN, etc. useless. They’ll just say, “Well, McCain doesn’t think Obama’s a bad guy. McCain said so himself.” I have never seen a presidential candidate that seems to want to lose an election so bad (except for Dole, and we all know what happened there). Politicians are supposed to be fired up and act like they actually want the job. Today, I seen a tired, beaten man who looked like he has given up. I voted for McCain a week ago (absentee), but my husband hasn’t voted yet. When McCain chose Gov. Palin, my husband went from not voting for McCain (he never cared for him), to voting for McCain. Then, McCain voted for the bailout bill; after that, my hubbie made his mind up - no McCain. And I can’t change his mind. Although, if I hadn’t sent my ballot in already, after what I seen today, I’m not so sure I would’ve voted for him either. I like to vote for someone who would really appreciate my vote. I guess I can take comfort in the fact that I voted for Gov. Palin, and there’s no doubt in my mind, she wants to go to Washington to represent the PEOPLE of the U.S. Say what you will about Bush, at least I feel he at least would’ve fought for us. And, I’m not crazy about Bush the last couple of years either. Just saying.

Romney was OK, but do you really think he would’ve chosen Sarah Palin as running mate? I seriously doubt it!

Gosh, I didn't even catch that! Sort of like Bubba saying that the Constitution determines who is qualified. I'm telling you all--something is going to break. Soon.

“And completely undercuts their brilliant ads these last few days. Man is this guy worthless.”

Pathetic.

I just got an email from their campaign mgr asking for more money, and I sent back this quick note:

You want us keep contributing and to stay fired up, but our candidate IS NOT FIRED UP.

HOW DARE HE ENDORSE THE CHARACTER OF OBAMA TODAY

YOU DO NOT ENDORSE YOUR OPPONENT, ESPECIALLY WHEN HIS CHARACTER IS IN QUESTION

HE NEEDS A MORE COMPELLING NARRATIVE THAN THAT

If McCain said the following “I admire Sen. Obama and his accomplishments” then this is why he can’t get traction.

You cannot do like the McCain spokeman tried to do yesterday on Fox News saying that Obama was a good man, while going after his judgment for having alliances with a domestic terrorist. It makes no emotional sense. It’s like watching your own body parts fall off while continuing to smile. It is insanity.

It’s clear to me that one of the weaknesses in the Republican party and many churches is the emotional inability to be consistent. This is how people convince themselves that it’s OK to reach across the isle and sellout their base: He’s stealing from the taxpayer, but we need to get things done so I’ll work with him. Moderate republicans have learned the emotional tricks that lead to their own abandonment of a sane worldview.

If Obama has serious alliances with a domestic terrorist who remains unrepentant, then he is a bad man.
