I believe that Bush was lied to about the economy in a very successful way. He wasn't so easily fooled on foreign policy because his heart was in it from the beginning. I also think that no one really wanted to believe that the Dem party (and a good portion of the Repub) leaders really are not “American” any longer and would take our economy out if given a chance, in order to bring in more economic socialism. In a word...change.

Bush needs to "do" an Eisenhower - go play golf - show the world he's not too concerned. Then work like the devil behind the scenes.

The drama queen panic of the last (screaming FIRE in a croweded theater) speech was shameful and dreadful.

I agree with you. They are darned if they do/don't. The best they can do is control the decline. Have they done that? We don't know yet as we don't know where the bottom is. The bailout was a band-aid, not a solution. They told us that and we knew that. Why everyone here acts like the bailout was the solution makes no sense to me.

Heck they admitted they don't know if any of it will work.

The real solutions are yet too come and that rests with the new president's administration. So are markets reacting to election polls? Could very well be.

My suggestion for now?

No more polls until the one that counts on Nov. 4th.
No more economy speeches meant to calm investors, it is having a reverse effect and making things worse.

He hasn’t been the only one though. Some of the heavy weight periferal players in government and the private sector have been practically acting as one to drive the market lower, it seems.

I choose to believe that Bush is as least as educated as I am concerning free market’s and that while he ran as a conservative he goverened as a socialist. He appointed fellow travelers to serve with him, socialists all.

Well it’s still three months before a new president is sworn in. They’ll have to do something in the mean time. I agree that we don’t know where the bottom is. I would have thought we would have seen an up tick day before now.

Just when we think the market will never go up, it will. And my bet is that this sucker is stretched so tight, that it is going to absolutely explode upward when the time comes.

I would have advised about 1% of the polls that have been aired so far this year. They are absolutely pointless, and yet our folks can’t seem to resist posting them as fast as they surface.

I don’t believe any polls. I’ve seen them jobed to the point that I just don’t pay attention to them any longer. I do state that I don’t believe that Obama is leading like they say he is though. I can’t believe people are that stupid.

He’d do better using a Designated Speechifier. Heck, he could bring in a 10th grader from a high school debate class, and the kid would do better than Bush.

A significant portion of a president’s job is to effectively communicate with the American public. Even his most ardent supporters would have to admit that, except for a very few extraordinary occasions, Bush has been a failure in that regard.

Rather than a stale, boring speech, he should clear his calendar for a full day and go work in a homeless shelter. Not just a photo op, but several hours really working. He knows how to work hard and is very accustomed to working on his ranch. No MSM tag-alongs, just the WH Communications Office camera dude and sound man.

THEN do his speech, from his heart, not from a speechwriter’s brain, about how he now has a better understanding of what the American people are facing, and how he has been inspired to roll up his sleeves and re-double his efforts to provide real solutions for real Americans.

Or maybe that’s what John McCain and Sarah Palin should do.

Heck, I just get the ideas, It’s up to other people to go out and do them.

;-)

“Bush, Paulson and others should be tried for treason and hung.”

**************************************************

Have you ever read the Constitution? If not, I’ll help you out.

The U.S. Constitution specifically defines the crime of treason:

“Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.”

Can you explain how the actions taken by President Bush and Secretary Paulson, and others fits that definition? If you can stretch that constitutional definition into fitting the current situation you would be stretching the constitution even more than Ginsburg, Souter, or Stevens do on their most creative days. I always thought that true conservatives were deeply committed to strict construction. Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe we conservatives are given the license to read it however we want to when it suits us.

And on top of all that, you would be stretching the definition so as to deprive people of life. Is that what you really want to do? Or are you just venting?

I may not like the government actions taken, but I think that some of the comments being raised are more than a little over the top.

Don’t bother trying to quell the lynch mob with logic or citations of the Constitution.

“Um, let’s see, the words “buffoon”, “garbage”, “impeached” and “hung” might seem a little irrational to people who are not heavily medicated. “

You should look up the following words so you can post here in an intelligent manner.

Words: true, untrue, opinion.

And when you understand that it’s my opinion that Bush is a lackey buffon, his actions have proven he is socialist/marxist/communist.

Oh and also study those three beliefs so next time you see them in a sentance you will actually understand what you are reading and then you can write a post that does make you look, well like a buffoon.

Unless of course you don’t think people in govt should suffer consequences for their behaviour.

Bush swore an oath to protect and preserve our constitution, what part of his violation of his oath do you NOT understand?

people in govt should suffer consequences

It's the mass executions part that's tad excessive.

(really scary when you think about the fact that it could be worse).

I believe that if John Kerry had been elected, we'd be putting a Republican in the White House this time around. Unfortunately, the anchor of George W. Bush means that we will very likely have a FAR leftist in there who doesn't love his country, instead of a leftist who at least had SOME love of his country, despite his treasonous remarks and actions.

Fair question. Socialists, Marxists, and Communists are are opposed to the workings of our constitution. Bush has turned over our free market engine to enemy’s of our country, which can be of the domestic type too.

Word is the markets are selling off in fear the socialists are taking over America, that Obama is going to win. Watch the markets today and Monday. Remember they said if we didn’t do the bailout the market would drop 2,000 points, weel we are down what 1,800 points.

What we’re experiencing is a good enema. It also exposes who can keep cool, and who is a raving lunatic.

This isn’t Bush’s fault, any more than the Iraq war financing caused it. No, it is the result of great inefficiencies having been introduced over the decades. It is the result of government activities that weren’t supportable in the long term: pension/medicare promises, the stifling of energy production through Green measures, credit incentives, etc. Big ticket items, and not piddly things like the bailout. (It didn’t help the problem, but it didn’t contribute much to it.)

Americans were sold that utopia could be had without adhering to the fundamentals. Obama will just try to prolong that mentality. It will survive this business cycle because the freebie illusion springs eternal.

LOL ya think?

Okay spread the executions out over weeks and months. You know couple a week just to remind the others in congress just what happens if you try this again.

Of course some may not deserve execution but very long prison sentances.

Too bad floggings are not allowed.

Or public disgrace like wearing a sign that says “I am a lackey socialist buffoon”
