Despite championing immigration reform in 2007, John McCain is poised to lose the Hispanic vote by a landslide margin that is well below President George W. Bush's 2004 performance.
Polls show Obama winning the broadest support from Latino voters of any Democrat in a decade, while McCain is struggling to reach 30 percent, closer to Senator Bob Dole's dismal 1996 result than to Bush's historic 40% four years ago.
McCain seems to have wound up with the worst of both worlds: He appears to be getting no credit from Latino voters for his past support for immigration reform, while carrying the baggage of other Republicans' hostility to illegal immigration.

You're being too nice. I'll say it. There are bigots here. There are just too many asshats that think that the republican party is some kind of white people club. Bigotry itself runs counter to the core of conservatism and they need to be weeded out of our party.

My son has blonde hair and blue eyes and because he wears his hair in a high and tight, gets called a “skinhead” and “neo nazi”. He wears his hair in a high and tight because my husband is military, he comes from a long line of military men, and I’ve always kept my boys’ hair like their dads. Today, my son who is in Jr. AFROTC had to wear his uniform to school. Nellis AFB pays $400 for each uniform. Some kids grabbed his hat, smashed it into food, threw it around laughing and then some kid said “hey, flush it down the toilet and they ran off to the bathroom with it. My son reported to them and he got basically the same response.......basically to lighten up.
While living in a border town in Texas, some hispanic kids at the high school drug a white girl into the bathroom and cut her face all up with a knife because she was white and her parents were from the base. This is what they admitted later. So it runs both ways and I’m sick and tired of only hearing about minority victims as though racism against whites doesn’t exist.
Then they should certainly love John McCain.
I warned that if the Republicans failed to disassociate themselves from the radical anti-immigrant elements within the party that this would happen. I guess they will be happy giving the Dems the Hispanic vote on a silver platter and confining our party to the dustbin.
Unfortunately, Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham were right about the bigots in the party and it will cost our party and our country dearly. The GOP needs to make its mission in life to weed out the miscreants who have consistently alienated Hispanics from the party if we are to have any hope in future elections.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Senators John McCain, Lindsey Graham, and their ilk are traitors to this great nation, and have betrayed her, by allowing a socialist tide of illegal aliens to invade her, by thwarting the rule of law, and by promoting the naturalization of those IAs, watering down our electorate and in doing so, surrendering us to the chains of socialism or worse.

The GOP needs to go away. It no longer serves a useful purpose. The way forward is to enforce the rule of law. Remove all aid and comfort of all illegal aliens. Enforce sanctions on employers. IAs will leave when there is no means for them to live here, as has already been proved on a small scale by many counties.
It is a gross distortion to portray Conservatives as bigoted toward Latinos. That is utterly FALSE. We are bigoted against ILLEGAL ALIENS. It doesn't matter if they are Latinos, Martians, or Toy Poodles.
Multi-culturalism must die. Lopsided immigration standards favoring certain countries, especially socialist countries must end. If anything, we should favor immigrants from democracies, from allies.
The amnesty you favor will remove the Republican party from power for all time, and will usher in unlimited socialism. America as we know it will be gone.
If the election is lost (and I think it has been, ever since McCain was nominated), It will be because Conservatives do not support the candidate.

Sorry, but the minute "bigot" comes out, I assume it is so. I have no bigotry toward Latinos whatsoever. My BIL is a (black) Costa Rican, and is here LEGALLY on a green card, working toward citizenship. I know Mexicans and Indians, and get along fine with both. Your accusations are offensive and certainly misplaced.

Cry all you want about bigots, but there is nothing more bigoted than those who think some people are above the law because of some religious, behavioural, or physical trait they happen to have.
