27 Days Left -- What did you do TODAY to help Republicans win?
Free Republic Exclusive | 10/9/08 | Antoninus

Posted on 10/09/2008 6:05:42 PM PDT by Antoninus

There are 27 days left for you to make a difference in the 2008 political season.

What you are doing in a POSITIVE way to help elect McCain/Palin and Republicans and defeat Obama/Biden and the Democrats?

Please note that the following actions do not count:

1.) Seagulling on a thread highlighting positive developments.

2.) Offering the McCain campaign advice on what they should be doing (unless you're a paid political consultant with years of experience, that is).

3.) Thinking you're funny by saying, "I did nothing." The prospect of Barack Obama as president of the U.S.A. is not funny.

There are many positive, meaningful things we can and should be doing to help achieve victory. Much of this involves volunteering for the campaign and getting out into your community with the truth about Obama and his abysmal record, inexperience, and shady associates.

The media won't do it, so it's up to us. Are you up to the challenge?

If so, sound off on this thread!

Sorry, in the real world, if you screw McCain, you get Obama. Chuck Baldwin and his 0.3% of the vote won't save you.

Sorry. As a Reagan Conservative I cannot support the CP. I support candidates who embrace all three pillars of Conservatism. Their anti-war plank directly opposes the defcon conservatives. I will support the AIP and Dr. Alan Keyes. The AIP's positions are in perfect union with Reagan Conservatism. While I am not yet a party member (I am now independent, after nearly 30yrs as a Republican) it is likely where I will end up.

McCain is far from perfect.

You have a knack for understatement.

But he is pro-life.

He is not.

He's pro-2A.

He is not.

He's in favor of victory in Iraq.

So is Keyes, only Keyes is a Conservative.

And he picked Sarah Palin.

Whimpy hamburger plan. Keyes is a real Conservative NOW, not on Thursday.

Those issues are easily enough for me to get enthusiastic, especially compared to the disaster that Obama would be.

You are a cheap date.

In the mean time, McCain wins, The Republicans give the IAs a general amnesty... 30m IAs (50m w/ chain migration), all newly minted socialist democrats, mainly located in the desert southwest, southern rockies, southern midwest, and southern coastal states, VOTE in the next election, overpowering the native conservative vote, and the Republican Southern Strategy, all the Republican Conservative strongholds are -gone-. No Sarah Palin for you. No more Republicans for you. Ever.

Doesn't it bug the crap out of you that Republicans are doing such a thing? Why would they institute the makings of their own undoing?

Your ill-timed ranting aside (I don't remember seeing you around during the primaries, bub)[...]

Oh yeah... I was here. Defended Hunter to the bitter end, and there's plenty of posts to prove it. He was the last Conservative standing, and when he stepped down, I left the Republicans. No more useless RINO party for me. I will work to build a Conservative party.

thanks a bunch for bumping this thread.

Sure. It serves my purpose as well as yours.

McCain is acceptable if not preferable.

Speak for yourself ...

Like him or not, he's a bona fide war hero and a patriot.

Neither of which qualifies him to be president of the United States, or alone makes him an attractive CONSERVATIVE candidate.

Obama is an outright international socialist. He's a radical ally of the far left with violent and racist associates.

No argument there.

If that's not enough to get you to the polls, then you deserve to live under a regime headed by such a person.

What I DON'T deserve is to live under a regime headed by John McCain.

Sarah Palin as VP is the real reason I'm pumped for this election.

You are voting for a president because you like the vice president? That's like buying a car you only tolerate because you like the stereo.

If McCain wins, Sarah wins, and in the end, we all win.

On the contrary. If McCain wins, socialism wins. A little slower than under Obama, to be sure, but a palatable defeat is still a defeat.

Nope, it's like leasing a tolerable car for 4 years with a guarantee that the next one will be better.

You, on the other hand, are choosing not to buy a car at all and hoping you don't get run over....

I was a staunch Keyes defender for years. But I'm not insane.

In my mind, it's MUCH more important to defeat Obama at this point than to have a hissy fit because McCain ain't perfect.

Well, you were on my Hunter ping list, so I have to give you props there. Unfortunately, now your vote will be irrelevant and that's a shame.

Sure. It serves my purpose as well as yours.

Your purpose, it seems, is to get Obama elected.

You'll notice that while Duncan Hunter isn't actively campaigning for John McCain, he's at least not trying to cut the legs out from under him.

Some of you could learn a thing or two from the Honorable congressman from San Diego.

I’ve been wringing my hands and earlier I crawled under my desk and wept softly to myself for about twenty minutes.

I’m OK now.

"Okay, you can’t just leave it at that! Do tell!"

Well, the prof. was a complete Wm. Ayers wannabe, his lectures were not about the subject but about promoting his political agenda and brainwashing 20-year-old students (I am much older) -- the guy refused to allow recorders in his class, by the way, leading me to believe he had had TROUBLE with his words coming back to him in the past. He made sexist comments about Sarah Palin and after I confronted him about it after class, I finaly went to the department head yesterday afternoon. I laid it all out, all of it, and gave the guy quotes, and found out I was not the first complaint, but would most certainly be the last, and the arrogant Fulbright scholar seeking a job at Texas Tech is wasting his time! WOO HOO!!!! You cannot KNOW how thrilling it was. The dept. head is actually putting me -- mid semester -- into a replacement class with a different professor who has agreed to do a guided study so that I don't have to finish with this creep. He said they're going to seat an auditor in the class for the other students because this a-hole has to finish the semester, but that they are taking measures to correct the problem as much as possible with this auditor. So there you have it! I couldn't believe I was being listened to. Texas Tech is clearly trying to promote fair-minded professors who are there to teach, not preach. It was a great day for education.

Unfortunately, now your vote will be irrelevant and that's a shame.

Quite the contrary. It is yours that is irrelevant wrt Conservatism, and it is a shame, on that you are correct.

Your purpose, it seems, is to get Obama elected.

My purpose is to get Conservatives elected, and to unseat socialism/globalism- a task you are impeding.

You'll notice that while Duncan Hunter isn't actively campaigning for John McCain, he's at least not trying to cut the legs out from under him. Some of you could learn a thing or two from the Honorable congressman from San Diego.

McCain and his ilk had no problem cutting the legs out of under Hunter and his fellows when they were about the people's business on this bailout crap. If anything, it is McCain and his cohorts that could learn a thing or two from the Honorable Congressman from San Diego.

As with China and trade...
As with Amnesty and the border...
As with Drilling...
ad infinitum...

[roamer_1:]So is Keyes, only Keyes is a Conservative.

He also has zero chance of winning.

He who can embrace all three pillars of Conservatism (Reagan Conservative) has the best chance of winning. That is *not* John McCain. His Giuliani gambit up the middle has proven to be unworkable, so since Saddleback he has falsely donned the mantle of Conservatism to try and pick up the base. Even with Palin, his support is weak, and he is in a bitter fight to win by a point or two (if at all, which I doubt) BECAUSE he cannot bring home the Conservative base.

Alan Keyes, as a staunch Reaganite, has massive appeal among all three pillars naturally, and thereby has more potential than McCain BY FAR. His off-the-cuff answers will inspire by his very nature because he does not need to be schooled in what to say, nor does he have to make promises he does not intend to keep. His answers are right because they come from his heart.

All that he lacks, as is the case with Hunter, and every other Conservative, is attention, as is plainly made evident by Palin's ascension. This country hungers for the Conservative message, but it is being stifled and controlled in order to keep those who have hijacked it's tenets and bastardized them in power.

In my mind, it's MUCH more important to defeat Obama at this point than to have a hissy fit because McCain ain't perfect.

"Duty is ours; results are God's" -John Quincy Adams

Our fathers considered parties to be a necessary evil, but stressed a vote of conscience. IOW, it is our duty to elect the best man, not the most electable, not against the most abhorrent, no weighting of abstract factors.

It is precisely your frame of mind that allows our country to continue to spin hopelessly toward socialism- the election of either evil, or the lesser evil, becoming paramount- when Divine Providence has seen fit to supply us with the best man all the way along.

It is my best hope that Keyes emerges as a dark horse, and barring that, that McCain loses in monumental proportions, and that 0bama is every bit as bad as you believe him to be...

Not that I want what is sure to come, but it is better now, that the frog find some sense, and jump out of the boiling pot, as it were, while we still have a remembrance of liberty, and the arms to do something about it, than to wait another few years and find it gone by attrition.

Even now, those who don't remember Reagan do not know libertarianism, as it has not been present since his time- being rejected by the "compassionate conservatives". Even now, those that do not remember the Reaganites do not know supply-side economics and fiscal responsibility, because they have not been attended since the 94 Congress.

Conservatives are losing the battle- But not to the socialist left Democrats who we've been fighting. We're losing to the globalist left Bakerite Republicans. Electing McCain continues our demise. It is time to offer a clear alternative, and a clear, CONSERVATIVE message.

Unfortunately, the way you're going about it will lead, if you are successful, to the election of Obama.

I believe it is quite the opposite- McCain's chances are quite tenuous- and rightly so. If Conservatives rejected McCain, as they should, and allowed the grassroots to raise up a dark horse Conservative instead of this rampant Republicanism, chances would be better. Socons have not lined up solidly, libertarians have all but rebelled, ficons are now leaving en masse... McCain cannot win with the middle, half the socons, the defcons, and the RINOs. It ain't enough.

I pray you are unsuccessful as your methods have all the hallmarks of delusional insanity.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result- Conservatives like me have decidedly stopped doing that.

LOL. You mean pulling the lever for a guy who's going to get 0.3% of the vote election after election? If that doesn't meet your criteria for insanity, nothing does.

We'll have both lost. The only difference being that I'll have voted *for* what I wanted. So who is the insane one?

Obama recently said, ‘The first thing I’d do as president would be to sign the Freedom of Choice Act,’ This legislation would wipe out all state and federal abortion restrictions including the partial-birth abortion ban.

Obama & Abortion / The Freedom of Choice Act / His Intentions Revealed / Pro-Life Video

Freedom of choice act http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AR1RD2-fabA

The American people agreed that the hideous procedure of partial-birth abortion should be banned, and it was.

Obama has promised he would bring back the partial-birth abortion overriding the will of the American people.

roamer, can we really let this happen and still sleep at night? Can we in good conscience allow Obama to bring back this slaughter of innocent lives? Are we to sacrifice these babies in order to prove a point?

Because people like you are willing to accommodate "less than perfect," we've suffered an incremental shift to the left so inexorable that we now are considering electing a pseudo-socialist like John McCain.

If I have to worry about getting run over, it's by appeasers, accommodationists, and compromisers. You're as much an enemy as the liberals.

ROFLMAO!!! IF the Republicans had the stones to do more than pay lip service to LIFE, this would not even be an issue. LIFE is guaranteed by GOD according to the Declaration of Independence- It supersedes the Constitution, and HE supersedes the Declaration.

Funny how we spent THIRTY YEARS being told we could not have a Right to Life Act, That we had to wait for the SCOTUS to overturn R v W, yet 0bama can just waltz right in and get it done the other way...

They had partial birth abortion banned. I'd hardly call that lip service.  But...if it makes it easier for you to accept. Do you care if Obama removes the restrictions as promised and we go back to preforming partial-birth abortions?
