I was coming through the grocery line today when I encountered a female, middle-aged African American cashier sporting three (3) Obama political buttons on her smock.
I paid for my items and promptly called Safeway's Pleasanton, CA headquarters and asked for the Public Relations office where I spoke to the Director.
I asked her if Safeway, Inc. was officially endorsing Barack Obama as one of their cashiers clearly was showing political partisanship in the workplace.
She said, "No, we have a strict dress code of no athletic, political or religious insignia". She asked for the store address and assured me that the manager would remove her political buttons.
She apologized and said she would take care of it immediately.
I thanked her and hung up.
I know I am deep in the belly of the Communist beast, especially here in the Bay Area, but I felt better at least showing the company that I was not happy with an Obama endorsement while I was shopping at their store, in fact, it made me want to not shop there.
Good work.
Way to go....vigilance is everything!
Would you do the same if she were wearing a McCain button? If not, you’re not a very nice person.
Great job! I get out to Pleasanton on business a few times a year. Great town, but to say they are leftists, well thats an understatement!
You need to stop back and make sure that action was taken.
I was at the post office last week and the postal clerk had an Obama button on her shirt and an Obama rubberband bracelet on her wrist.
Any idea if it’s kosher to wear those at a government office? Thanks.
Worse, a racist!
I had something similar happen to me when I lived in Massachusetts at a Grocery Store in 2004, the clerk was pushing her ideas about John Kerry off on me, and I told her I didn’t want to listen to it, and that I thought I was entitled not to have to hear her opinion as a customer. She shut up. And on the way out to the car, the grocery bagger who looked like retired person, thank me over and over for putting her in her place. :-) Got to feel sorry for the people they work with, to have to listen to that also.
Great job. I’ll keep it in mind.
“I know I am deep in the belly of the Communist beast, especially here in the Bay Area”
We will cover you in prayer. You are in the valley of the shadow of death. But just as David said in Psalm 23
Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.
Of course it isn’t.
Not a very nice person? Hardly, it would just mean he was leaving it up to someone who minded to complain about that one.
There are folks out there in Pleasanton who stay there "on business" for several years. At Club Fed.
Hah! What a ridiculous statement. Let the Obama supporters complain if she were wearing a McCain button.
And you know it would have been torn from her smock if she had been and she would probably have been trampled in the melee.
I resent your calling this vigilant freeper ‘not a nice person.’
Who wants to be NICE anyway. We’ve been nice too long.
Let’s get in somebody’s face !!!
Where did I hear that?
Um, McCain isn't trying to destroy the country with Marxism.
Didn’t think so but wasn’t sure.
Other clerks didn’t have buttons declaring their choice. I’ll be going in tomorrow to mail something. If she’s there and displaying her political choice I’ll ask for the supervisor.
At a Whole Foods (I know...) I had some pierced idiot bagger say to me “John Lennon was the greatest musician ever.”
My reply? “Yoko Ono is the greatest reason for high capacity magazines ever.”
End of conversation.
If the same clerk is there tell her "What the hell I thought I got you fired "!
Great point...the political correctness bug has hit me hard, if I see anything religious, sexist, racist or political “out of place” meaning a conservative statement being made in a Liberal setting, not the reverse...a red light goes off in my brain.
Kind of like the old guy at the driving range that calls black people “coloreds”.
