Our guys lose it when they get to the Times. Brooks predicts a 9-point Obama victory -- that's Reagan-level, isn't it? Also -- can you stand it -- he says, "Obama has the great intellect..." After a discussion about Niebuhr, "I was dazzled, I felt the tingle up my knee as Chris Matthews would say."

Brooks has the gall to quote Buckley's line about the 2,000 people in the phone book being preferable as a governing body to the faculty of Harvard et al -- then disagree with it -- then claim Buckley disagreed with it -- then go on to prove the truth of the aphorism on himself. What an ass!

Maybe this is all a misquote -- but, I think probably not.... Brooks & Peggy Noonan must be having high tea together, with some chemical chasers.

...describing John McCain and Barack Obama as "the two best candidates we've had in a long time.

The two very worst candidates I've ever seen. Brookes is certifiably mad.

McCain is the best Republican candidate in a long time?

As selected by staffers working for Howard Dean at the DNC (they joined the McCain Campaign in 2006, google Democrats for McCain 2006 sometime).

“The more I follow politicians, the more I think experience matters”

“Barack Obama as “the two best candidates we’ve had in a long time.”

Quite a contradiction there, David.

David Brooks spoke frankly about the presidential and vice presidential candidates Monday afternoon, calling Sarah Palin a "fatal cancer to the Republican party" but describing John McCain and Barack Obama as "the two best candidates we've had in a long time."

Dear Mr. Brooks,

The Founding Fathers wanted citizen politicians to run this country. Sarah is perfect in that respect. And she is much more qualified for office than Obama.

The democrat party and its candidate for POTUS represent a fatal cancer to the welfare of this nation.

It’s one thing to be interested in ideas, another to be interested in the kind of ideas espoused by the likes Ayers and Dohrn. Sorry, Brooksie baby, you can’t dodge that!

Mr. Brooks, no matter what pretenses he offers to the contrary, obviously knows absolutely nothing about the Republican Party...

but describing John McCain and Barack Obama as "the two best candidates we've had in a long time."

He loses all credibility with this statement. This election has produced the four weakest candidates that we've had in years. Of the four, Governor Palin is the best. She has less experience than I'd like in a candidate for our nation's highest offices, but she may be capable of learning and may be "playing down" to the level of the rest of the field. The other three are pathetic. When our nation has reached the point that we can't do better, we've fallen a long way.

Bill

I don’t know what this guy is smoking, but I WANT SOME!

I had to look two or three times to see if there was a “parody” category ticked off here, but I guess the initial poster forgot to note it.

The fact that this clown works for the NYT tells everyone everything they need to know about this guy.

Does anyone believe the NYT would hire an effective conservative writer to work for them? Hell no! They get an idiot like this instead.

For those who may wonder at what form of Acid Mr. Brooks is taking all you need to know is the following.

During the 1930s, Niebuhr was a prominent leader of the militant faction of the Socialist Party of America.

Mr. Brooks and his tingly feeling can go hang out with Chris Matthews and talk about socialist reform with their fellow travelers for all I care... (Mr. Brooks admits that the origins of his political leanings are liberal.)

You mean like Bill Ayers, Dave? And Bernadine Dohrn? And Jerry Wright? Yeah, that’s one impressive team there, boy. Never mind the running mate who’s a lawyer, a former chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, still a member of the committee, and yet apparently can’t remember which article of the Constitution covers which branch of government.

This is what apparently passes for thinking in the editorial offices at the Times. Amazing. I bet you probably still wonder why people at GOP rallies boo and curse members of your profession.

I used to pay attention to what David Brooks had to say...until his personality disorder started to manifest itself around the time he joined the NYSlimes. Now, I just feel sorry for him and don’t pay much attention to his musings. Besides, how many guys go from wearing blue/white ties to pink/white ties in just a few years?

Had just about all the "experience" we can bear up under for a while.

300,000,000 people in America and we keep turning up the same few hundred left-hand thread nuts.
