This surprises me too. Incidentally, while watching the debate, I didn't even notice that Obama was black until near the very end of it ... I was concentrating on what was being said by both candidates, not what they looked like.
Obviously there are some on the other side of the aisle who only look at the color of one's skin rather than the content of their character.
