I thought "gay" was something to be proud of, as in "gay pride". Should not "so gay" be considered a great compliment?
Seriously, most people who use a phrase such as "so gay" to describe something they don't like are not seething with hatred of homosexuals and would not insult such a person to his face.
This is about silencing even the mildest mocking or joking about homosexuality. I do agree with the censors in one respect about not misusing the word "gay". That adjective is a lie when used to describe a lifestyle, especially in men, which leads to misery, disease, and death (and according to many religions, hell).
