I don’t think that a moderator should be the one to pick the questions.

I agree. I think they should have given each person in the audience a number and then pulled the numbers out of a hat and let the audience members just stand up and ask their questions -- no prescreening, no moderator "followup" questions. Just a question from the audience, answer from each candidate, then a 3-5 minute free-for-all discussion afterwards between the candidates.

I am tired of the gloom and doom too. I also think we are going to win big.

Alexis who? Give me a picture of Cindy McCain!

Yep its amazing how the MSM has these out of staters completely bamboozled. PA is going McCain this year, anyone that’s been a republican in this state and is on the ground can tell you Fauxbama does not have the support here. He’s not managed to get the voters that opposed him in the primaries to his side.. the white blue collar and blue dog dems are not going for this guy. Its blatantly obvious on the ground, I mean glaringly obvious.

Sorry “Berlin” — I failed to notice your locale when responding that people should try to vote in person.

If you truly are in Germany, obviously you cannot vote in person. Then by all means, get that ballot in the mail ASAP. Thanks!!!

He was awesome...i was finally jumping out of my seat and saying YES!!!! Yes!! Yes!! We can!!!! Hopefully he can be more like this in the next debate.......

Same here. I was so low this morning you could have scraped me off the floor. I felt all was lost. After his speech, I can continue on pounding the pavement for Palin. If JM continues in this vein, we will win this election.

Via TPM:

In most political speeches, the common refrain is “my fellow citizens”.

John McCain just referred to the country as “my fellow prisoners.”

“Across this country, this is the agenda i have set before my fellow prisoners and the same standards of clarity and candor must now be applied to my opponent.”

Did he really say that?

McCain was not that bad last night.

George Bush lost all three debates against Kerry, and still beat that haughty jerk!

Keep in mind the MSM is in Obama’s camp so much that even IF McCain had KO’d Barack, the media would have claimed Obama had won the debate. They’d have manufactured a controversy, or gaffe, or factual inaccuracy that put McCain in a bad light.

Agreed. I think the polls are clueless or are lying. Hillary voters want their party back. If Obama wins it is gone forever.

I am hoping McCain gets tougher. I have issues with him but when I was a little boy he was in a prison trying to protect my right for a war started by JFK/LBJ. There is no comparison. Obama is a thug in a suit with an affirmative action degreee. He is a troublemaker and terrorist.

Also say what you will about McCain - he is surrounded by hot women. ;-) Cindy, Megan and Sarah. He is doing something right.

No we just have to have Sarah with her bear knife to guard McCain from signing and dumb laws as President.

I’m in Ohio and I am going to be a poll observer. I will need to be at whichever precinct they send me to by the time the polls open and stay until they close. I don’t want to vote absentee but I have too.

They are currently in Strongsville Ohio. The event was moved indoors because of rain. Venue size had to be reduced from 20,000 to 1,800. Local radio is reporting that there still look to be about 20,000 people on site. The line goes around a city-center building twice and extends as far as the eye can see.

Reporter on site says that the line was about a city block long at around noon today. He seems pretty stunned by the enthusiasm.

This is from an afternoon talk show on WTAM 1100 am. In the past the show has basically hated both candidates. So I wouldn’t call it a McCain-leaning show.

Crowd cheers McCain-Palin

Republican John McCain's Straight Talk Express tour bus rolled into Stabler Arena to the theme from "Rocky" this afternoon and a thunderous cheer from the assembled capacity crowd.
McCain fans roared when his wife Cindy asked how her husband did at last night's debate.
And it sent up raucous cheers of Sarah! Sarah! as Cindy McCain introduced McCain's running mate Sarah Palin.
Sarah Palin said the debate provided voters with a clear choice between two vastly different world views

Here’s a bit of hope:
I just got off the phone with my son who is stationed in sunny California in the Air Force. He was at the SanFran airport waiting for a plane. Keep in mind that this is the San Francisco airport.
He had finished checking in via the kiosk. He is flying US Airways and had to pay $15 for his bag. As he went to check his bag, the woman at the desk asked for his ID. She asked told him not to ever check in at the kiosk. That he was military and they appreciated his service. They would like to thank him and refunded his fee for his bag. She then made sure he got through without any problems and wished him well. She even tried to upgrade his seating.
US AIR deserves some props for this especially since this was in the SanFran airport.
He lives in the Bay Area and told me that he and his wife who is also Air Force were going to put up a McCain/Palin sign in their yard (they are not on base). I asked him if he thought that was a good idea. He said sure it is, and that the area he lived in, there were more McCain signs than Obama. He said sure you might see a lot of Obama bumper stickers on cars but that he saw more McCain signs at houses. Surprise me again.
He then went to buy a book asking my advice on what he might be interested in reading for a long flight. He began reading off the titles of the books available. Again, I remind you that this is in SanFran airport. He said there were just a few books available. But three ...three of them were anti-Obama books. The Audacity of Deceit was next to The Audacity of Hope. hehe. But the next two books were:
Obama Nation
The Case Against Obama
He said since he knows everything he needs to know about Obama from me, he decided to buy a couple of sports magazines to get him through. LOL.

I guess there may be hope yet.

Yes, he really said that. My mouth dropped open and you could see Sarah and his daughter cring and look around to see if anyone else noticed it. That slip could be bad for Mac. I think we all have to keep remembering that we are voting for Sarah for president, no matter what. She is destined to be president.

Oh, I so hope you're correct on this, because I remember some poster from Ohio said he was working the polls and knocking on doors and no way the dems were going to win in Oh in 2006...congressional races. He was saying turnout was big for the republicans..etc. Then what happened?
