The National Rifle Association has endorsed New Mexico congressional candidate Ed Tinsley.

Tinsley is vying for the seat being vacated by Congressman Steve Pearce, who is running for the U.S. Senate. The Republican candidate is running against Hobbs businessman Harry Teague.

The National Rifle Association awarded Tinsley an A rating, which means the candidate is solidly pro-gun. The A rating is usually reserved for incumbents.

Teague received an A-Q rating, which means his rating is based solely on a questionnaire.

The Tinsley campaign recently criticized Teague's position on the second amendment, citing an Albuquerque Journal interview where the Democrat was reported saying he wasn't a big gun fan. Teague says he made the statements several years ago while on the Lea County Commission. He adds the remarks were made jokingly.

The NRA also endorsed Republican Congressman Steve Pearce in his bid for the U.S. Senate. Pearce was also awarded an A rating.

No endorsement for Sheriff Darren White who is running for District 1 (replacing Heather Wilson who lost to Pearce in the June primary)? Was he endorsed earlier??

I haven't seen a poll about District 2, but Sheriff White is behind in District 1 and Pearce behind statewide. Teague is from Hobbs so lots of signs up down here for him. You will see Pearce and Teague signs together on business fences. Tried to get a Pearce sign for my yard last Saturday but none are to be had.

Sheriff Darren White who has always been an avid NRA supporter has not been endorsed by the NRA. Here is the reason, there are two individuals that form the NM delegation to the NRA Political Action Committee one is a diehard Dem and the other is a diehard Rep. Thus the NM delegation is split. The diehard Dem refuses to support White even though he has always be a stalwart supporter of the NRA and Heinrich will never support the NRA or our 2nd amendment rights.

My question then is if this person is a diehard Dem, how did NRA endorse Pearce and Tinsley? How did they get around his opposition or was a deal cut with this person (NRA won’t endorse White if the Dem does not oppose the other two)??

I think you have got it mostly right, i.e. by not endorsing White they do not look bias and two the Dem lives in White’s district and does not want him.
