You Guys Are Nuts (Face it, McCain is Toast)

You Guys Are Nuts [Andy McCarthy]

We have a disaster here — which is what you should expect when you delegate a non-conservative to make the conservative (nay, the American) case. We can parse it eight ways to Sunday, but I think the commentary is missing the big picture.

Here's what Obama needed to do tonight: Convince the country that he was an utterly safe, conventional, centrist politician who may have leftward leanings but will do the right thing when the crunch comes.

Now, as the night went along, did you get the impression that Obama comes from the radical Left? Did you sense that he funded Leftist causes to the tune of tens of millions of dollars? Would you have guessed that he's pals with a guy who brags about bombing the Pentagon? Would you have guessed that he helped underwrite raging anti-Semites? Would you come away thinking, "Gee, he's proposing to transfer nearly a trillion dollars of wealth to third-world dictators through the UN"?

Nope. McCain didn't want to go there. So Obama comes off as just your average Center-Left politician. Gonna raise your taxes a little, gonna negotiate reasonably with America's enemies; gonna rely on our very talented federal courts to fight terrorists and solve most of America's problems; gonna legalize millions of hard-working illegal immigrants.

McCain? He comes off as Center-Right .. or maybe Center-Left ... but, either way, deeply respectful of Obama despite their policy quibbles.

Great. Memo to McCain Campaign: Someone is either a terrorist sympathizer or he isn't; someone is either disqualified as a terrorist sympathizer or he's qualified for public office. You helped portray Obama as a clealy qualified presidential candidate who would fight terrorists.

If that's what the public thinks, good luck trying to win this thing.

With due respect, I think tonight was a disaster for our side. I'm dumbfounded that no one else seems to think so. Obama did everything he needed to do, McCain did nothing he needed to do. What am I missing

I’m sure many Germans felt the same way, that Der Vaterland would survive a Hitler chancellorship, too.
Read a history book. The German people (by and large) were thrilled that Hitler became chancellor. He was going to get German industry going again while protecting them from evil Communists and the socialist mistakes of the Weimar era.
If you don’t think an Obama win in November is the most dangerous crisis we’ve ever faced, then you’re naive.
Naive? Maybe. I am delightfully saucy.

“I will never say it is all finished for us. But the fact remains that little turd Obama could have been polished off some time ago. McCain should have dropped the nice guy get along routine and exposed the talons long ago. He should also take this advise. When you fight a socalist with your version of socialism it is a loosing proposition. “

A good point. I think the fact that the response to McCain in this debate has been so poor on here speaks volumes to the fact that he didn’t do what he needed to do. We are the base of his support and if a high percentage of us aren’t impressed I can’t imagine a high percentage of Obama leans would be impressed enough to switch.

“Genial John” McCain is a wuss. He ran for President as an ego thing. He really doesn’t care that much about winning because when he loses, he will go back to the Senate and work with his “friends across the aisle” pushing for bi-partisan legislation that the Dems like. And the media will once again be his friend and he will bask in his increased place in history as a guy who got the party’s nomination. In other words, he will be another Bob Dole.

Maybe he was an American hero in the Vietnam War, but in this culture war, he is the guy who caused us to lose perhaps the most decisive battle because he didn’t have enough heart and gumption to fight. He sold us out. What a legacy!

Can’t take what? Your helplessness?

You had to post to me twice to ask me when I signed up, you couldn’t use your cursor?

You question whether all of my 4000 posts came this week? 4000 posts in 8 years isn’t enough for you? You can’t look for yourself? I have to do everything for you?

You’re a classic passive-aggressive.

Here’s my vanity, you can see my thoughts. Please don’t post to me if you’re going to question my credentials. I certainly am very familiar with your screenname, now I’ll be sure to ignore it after getting a dose of your “personality”.

You posted an article from a hysterical whiner, I don’t care if it’s from NRO, they have more than a few “cocktail conservatives” there.

This better explains my problem with your post of this crybaby.

Obama is easy to discredit on so many levels. People on this site do it often.

But we are bare knuckle. McCain wears padded gloves at best. If you are going to knock your opponent out that doesn't work.

And now look at this on Atlas Shrugs which, after railing at the media for failing to report what is actually going on in Kenya, makes the following claim:

Raila Odinga has, in his own words, a ‘close personal friendship’ with Barrack Hussein Obama Junior. When Obama went to Kenya in August of 2006, he was hosted by Raila and spoke in praise of him at rallies in Nairobi: Obama’s bias for his fellow Luo was so blatant that a Kenya government spokesman denounced Obama during his visit as Raila’s ‘stooge.’

Today’s WND article also reports my previous findings:

At a news conference today in Nairobi, Corsi plans to announce he can now affirm the following as a result of his reporting in Kenya:

Obama and Odinga have been in direct contact since the senator’s visit to Kenya in 2006.
Reported at Atlas Shrugs on January 4, 2008 here.

Obama remained in active phone contact with Odinga through the New Hampshire Democratic Party primary in Jan.

“It was a total wasted opportunity given what the format should have been. Brokaw sucked.”

Right and Right. And this is a basic point, the format:

It would have been easier for McCain to come back at Obama’s wild lies, misrepresentations. cluelessness and idiocy if they had not been denied rebuttal by the moderator. This was not a “Debate” where, frankly, either of them had an opportunity to rebut what the other just said in reply to a question (on those rare times when BO actually replied to one, that is). That’s what drives me crazy more than anything. Answer the question, One, Two, now answer this one, One, Two ...... no rebuttal = no argument = nothing gained and no debate.

I’m sure I’m not the only one here who was on debating teams in school decades ago. We know what a debate is. That wasn’t it. Just my 2 cents.

That is the beauty of our side. We call them as we see them. No walking on eggshells pretending things that are not so.

Why is is wasted? Because my candidate won’t win? Well, if you vote for McCain in California, he’s not going to win. Yeah, I know, everyone loves to bash polls here, but McCain really has no hope of winning California. Are the people voting for McCain anyway wasting their vote?

This is the answer, right here, to all of my previous whining. This is demoralization, in plain English, on Free Republic of all places. If this 'tude settles in and becomes the culture, then we lose. The problem is, if we lose this time there's a better than even chance that we lose for good.

I'm in Illinois, (doggonit) and the relevant districts in this state are organized right down to the bedrock. Dennis Hastert was my congressman. We're dem now, not just because free people didn't give a shit, but because the commies fought for every vote in this traditionally republican district, and won. They intend to keep it. I intend to make it tough for them. If it's important enough for enough voters, then they'll vote. If 50.01% turn out with us, we win, polls, pundits and all other bullshit be damned. Even in Illinois. Vote for Paul, or Barr, or Spanky the Clown. That's what they want. Obama is a clown, but his campaign are pros. They know that voters believe the media, even if they say they don't, and they believe that they can predict the outcome of an election by simply publicising the results ahead of time. We should prove them wrong.

Obama is unfit to even be dog catcher. But what you sent is highly unlikely to be seen by most people. Even if it was they wouldn't understand it much less care about it. We have finally reached the point we were warned about. When the public can vote for largesse the game is over.

That doesn't mean I give up so certain factions out there needn't call me a quitter. I'm just a realist.

For the record, I agree that there's no excuse for electoral defeatism. That was my point about California. Of course people should vote for McCain in California, but that's because they support McCain, not because the pre-election polls say that McCain is going to win.

It’s my country that is toast.

Really? Which one is that - the UK?

I'm sure glad I don't think my country is toast. My country is comprised of citizens who are strong and will fight for what is right when it gets down to brass tacks.

Sorry to hear about your country.

I am sure the underlying message was, you should have health insurance and do preventative care for your asthmatic kids so they don’t end up in the ER with every asthma attack.

But what he said implied that we should not take our kids to the ER for asthma attacks. He illustrated that, should the government be in charge of health care, THEY would be deciding what we should or should not do at any given time. We lose our freedoms when we take the handout.

There was a question about whether health care should be treated as a commodity. McCain went first, and at the end of his segment, encouraged the audience to listen for the amount of the fine Obama planned to set for those of us who don’t have health insurance for our own kids or our employees.

Obama took his turn.

When he was done, McCain had a one-liner about how he still didn’t hear the amount of the fine.

I believe that I have the RIGHT to pay cash for my and my family’s health care if I so choose. As contrasted to a RIGHT for some government mandated health insurance.

Don’t despair, Mac is an older gentleman and a straight talker. He doesn’t have the flair like bama, but then again he isn’t selling aluminum siding to people with brick houses either.
