He has a rebuttal posted there, dated Sept. 30th (so the flyer must be rather recent).

NICE TRY
Dear protector of visual(and lingual) illiteracy,
Your small mindedness is very sad. My Obama image is my unique creation and not plagiarized as you falsely state. The Obama image is a positive image that is patriotic and in no way Socialist or Communist. Is your assertion that my poster is RED based on my use of the colors from the AMERICAN flag, one of which happens to be red? I have criticized the U.S. government in my work, though I am a patriotic American. I believe patriotism is about trying to follow your conscience and make the country the best it can be. You are obviously a nationalist who supports the U.S. unconditionally. Nationalism brought Hitler to power. Im not interested in promoting that mentality. If I thought it was possible to appeal to your intellect I would, but you did not even spell Barack correctly. I actually feel sorry for you, but even more so for the people who live in fear and might be manipulated by your disinformation. It is very sad that people like you resort to such sleazy tactics, and that decent people have to spend time combating small mindedness and disinformation. This once again demonstrates how much is at stake in this election. Those who support honesty and sanity need to take a look at the other side and stay motivated. Thanks.

Fairey says: "The Obama image is a positive image that is patriotic and in no way Socialist or Communist."
He doesn't say he's not a Marxist nor that Obama is not a Marxist. He says that the Obama image is not a Marxist. Clever.
Fairey says: "I have criticized the U.S. government in my work, though I am a patriotic American."
Let's take a look at some of Fairey's "patriotic" artwork.
Fairey says: "My Obama image is my unique creation and not plagiarized as you falsely state."
I cannot say one way or the other about Fairey's Obama image, but his habit of plagiarizing is well documented, so it's easy to see how anyone could make the assumption.

Obey Plagiarist Shepard Fairey
by Mark Vallen
Here is a larger copy of the letter that Obama has written to Fairey stating that he admires "the political messages involved in your work."
Between February - early July, 2008, Shepard Fairey raised $400,000 for Obama through poster sales alone. I would hazard the guess that the figure must be at least $2,000,000 by now through the combined sales of posters, tee shirts, stickers, buttons, coffee mugs, etc. with the images.
If Obama does win in November, I wouldn't be surprised if this guy becomes his administration's "Artist Laureate." Can you imagine him as the Artistic Director for the Inauguration ceremonies? One Freeper commented that he will probably be appointed "Kommisar of Kulture."
I'd like to see something up at YouTube about Shepard Fairey's Anti-Amerikkan artwork and his mega-bucks fundaising for Obama.
I can write a script for either voice or sentence boards, and pick which images to put up, but I have zero idea of how to make a slideshow or post at YouTube or what kind of music would be good, etc., etc., etc.
If you'd be interested in helping me create a slide show, please post here or Freepmail me.
Thanks!
"I also believe we should do more to disparage patriotism, but here we must be very carefulas noted earliernot to strike directly at the powerful sentiments associated with it. There is no reason to put one's hand in a beehive if there are other ways to extract the honey. One indirect approach that deserves being tried is substituting the term "nationalism" for the term "patriotism" in all discussions of this subject."
(This is a quote from Marxist author Bertell Ollman, from a much longer (he's a Marxist, doncha know!) screed in which he instructs people in how to undermine capitalist societies.
should be “Anti-Amerikkkan”
Nothing says "I'm a patriotic American" like depicting Uncle Sam as a genocidal killer.

I wanted to make an art piece of Barack Obama because I thought an iconic portrait of him could symbolize and amplify the importance of his mission. I believe Obama will guide this country to a future where everyone can thrive and I should support him vigorously for the sake of my two young daughters. I have made art opposing the Iraq war for several years, and making art of Obama, who opposed the war from the start, is like making art for peace. I know I have an audience of young art fans and Im delighted if I can encourage them to see the merits of Barack Obama.

See? It's all about "peace, love, togetherness" and "change".
Here are some of Fairey's other masterpieces. No joke. Most of his works are along these same lines (anti-American, pro-communist propaganda). Check the link.

From a 'thank you' letter Barack Obama sent to Shepard Fairey:
"Dear Shepard, I would like to thank you for using your talent in support of my campaign. The political messages involved in your work have encouraged Americans to believe they can help change the status quo. Your images have a profound effect on people, whether seen in a gallery or on a stop sign.'"

Hmmm. I would think patriotism includes supporting our Constitutional framework and founding ideals, but that doesn't seem to be an option for Mr. Fairey. Oh no, anyone who dislikes his Communist propaganda redolent posters is basically someone who would bring Hitler to power. Sheesh!
Here is Fairey's website with posters for sale: http://www.thegiant.org/wiki/index.php?title=Category:Prints A lot of them are posters of rock bands, etc., but many of them are on his radical themes.

Hope, Dope, Grope, and Other Obamunist Posters

He did an even more gushing one of Chomsky...
Yikes! I'd forgotten I'd already used that image somewhere before I deleted it. I'd made an improved version (of the blue dot), so I deleted the old one.
Here are the two images of Fairey raising money for Obama as host of a dance, and the image on his tee shirt.
