The more criticism heaped on Sarah Palin, the more her Nebraska fans said Sunday they would rally around the Republican vice presidential candidate with the folksy demeanor.
Palin, several Republicans said, has been unfairly maligned by Democratic critics and "gotcha" journalists who don't like the Alaska governor because she's a political outsider with down-home roots.
"She's one of us. She has a family and she has a job," said Carolyn Gigstad, a Republican from Syracuse, Neb., who was a working mother until a couple of years ago.
"I think she has a lot more on the ball than a lot of people give her credit for," Gigstad said.
She was among those who waited in line Sunday afternoon for several hours to get a good seat to listen to Palin speak at the Omaha Civic Auditorium, 18th Street and Capitol Avenue.

Nebraska? I gotta ask...6 points down in the polls why is she in a safe state? Didn’t Obama pull out of the state already? Shouldn’t she be in Colorado or Nevada or Ohio? Just asking. Nothing against NE, just seems silly to waste valuable time.
American Exceptionalism!
It’s already started! Click on the link!!!
Love the boots too!
Shoring up red states doesn’t hurt. She will be living in FL tomorrow.
Nebraska isn’t winner take all. They have to ensure that they win all districts
She’s the Rock Star, not Nobama. Man, the crowd just LOVES her.
And so do I. :)
I just love hearing Sarah, and seeing how the crowd reacts to her and how they react to her.. Sarah is superstar!
Thank you again.
I like the hugs - initiated by a couple of the gals she met. At first I thought it was her daughter!
Sarah is just great.
I would feel much better if they would do something similar in VA and NC soon
Thanks for posting the video link.
The more I see of Sarah Palin, the more completely blown away I am. She completely grips the crowd; she knows “how to work an audience,” as they say in show business.
I thought it was just great when she owned up to weak interviews with Katie Couric by claiming that she was trying to give Tina Fey more material — “job security at Saturday Night Live” — as she called it. Hilarious!
Note to Sarah: MORE! WE WANT MORE!
I find it strange that the Omaha World Herald IS live-casting an Event that they failed to Announce or plug {as coming soon, to OUR City}.
I worked until 6, this evening and copuldn’t have attended. But my spouse would have liked to attend.
She is the real deal, the biggest political rock star of the 21st century.

She went on to reiterate the McCain theme of arriving at energy independence through an “all-of-the-above approach.”
“Also, and it does mean, we need to drill here and drill now,” she said as the room that erupted by screams.

“Maybe it’s just the name of the team . . . I love that cheer, ‘Go Mavericks!’”
