Between March and June 1942, he served with Patrol Squadron ONE HUNDRED ONE and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. The citation follows: "For extraordinary achievement and heroic conduct as commander of a patrol plane on a hazardous round-trip flight from Darwin, Australia to Beco, Island of Timor, on the afternoon and night of May 24, 1942. In an undefended, comparatively slow flying boat, Lieutenant Moorer braved an area dominated by enemy air superiority, effected a precarious landing in the open sea at dusk and took off at night in the midst of threatening swells, with a heavily loaded airplane. His superb skill and courageous determination in organizing and executing this perilous mission resulted in the delivery of urgently needed supplies to a beleaguered garrison and the evacuation of eight seriously wounded men who otherwise might have perished."

Indonesia. This man got around. God Bless him and his footprint

I had always thought Adm. Moorer was from Eufaula, Alabama. Maybe he was from close to there.

I always liked him, in fact he was probably the most conservative man in public service that I can remember. I mean he was a real conservative and he didn't make any secret of it.

I see the word “experimental” over and over in this biography.

Experimental, means “guts”

Not Much In Between
That you may be filled with all the fullness of God. —Ephesians 3:19

In the western panhandle of Texas is a small town named Texline. It had an ostentatious beginning in the late 1800s as a thriving center along a new railroad line. Within a few years, though, most of the shops had closed and the town’s population shriveled to about 400. In 2000, the population was still just over 500.

One online description of Texline says that it has “a city limits sign at one end, another at the other end, and not much in between.”

What a waste if the same description could be given of our spiritual journey! The journey of the Christian life on earth begins at the moment of faith in Jesus and ends when the believer goes to be with the Lord. This raises an important question: What happens in between?

A rich and full life is available to all who believe in and serve Jesus. The apostle Paul prayed that believers would “be filled with all the fullness of God” (Eph. 3:19). He wanted them to know life “abundantly” (John 10:10). But how many of us experience even a small part of the abundant life Christ promised to those who are faithful to Him?

God desires to give us a marvelous beginning with salvation and a great ending in Glory—with much in between.

Lord, thank You for all that You have done for me.
I commit myself to making the most of my spiritual journey.
I want to experience as much as I can of You and all
You have to offer to me. Amen.

A life given fully to God becomes a God-filled life.

Hoooeeeee! BRAVO ZULUS! ADM Thomas Moorer, thanks Star! My former C.O. at sea, I was a swab in his Flag (ComCarDiv5—Command Carrier Division 5), S. China Sea and all points East, USS Constellation and USS Ranger.

We thought the world of ADM Moorer, always had time to greet the sailors, exchange pleasantries if he wasn’t in a hurry, what a record he left.

Thanks so much for featuring this honorable man who led by example.
