As Archbishop Naumann and I stressed in our recent Pastoral Letter, Our Moral Responsibility as Catholic Citizens, we can never vote for a candidate because of his or permissive stand on abortion. At the same time, if we are inclined to vote for someone despite their pro-abortion stance, it seems we are morally obliged to establish a proportionate reason sufficient to justify the destruction of 45 million human persons through abortion. If we learn that our candidate of choice further pledges through an instrument such as FOCA - to eliminate all existing limitations against abortion, it is that much more doubtful whether voting for him or her can ever be morally justified under any circumstance.

What about the women who have already been punished with a child?
Will they get a choice for ...say... the first two years?

Creator-endowed right to life and liberty is the foundation upon which this nation was founded.
If a nation devalues that concept, basing an individual's right to life and liberty on judicial fiat and a woman or girl's decision, then where is the security for liberty for any?
The elephant in the room in this election is the Radical Left's absolute determination that it, alone, will decide who sits on the Supreme Court of the United States! They talk about "change," they talk about war, they talk about everything else, but the "elephant" is the question of the unfettered right of a woman to destroy her unborn child. To the Left, this is a declared war on all opposition.
Yes, it is time for John McCain to take off the gloves on exposing the real culprits in the government who forced banks to make risky loans to unqualified people, but for the sake of liberty for generations yet unborn, it is far more important that he clarify the importance of the life issue, and the threat to liberty if Obama carries out the Left's agenda. Soft pedaling this issue, as if it is just a personal preference, overlooks a far more significant principle.
"The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time: the hand of force may destroy, but cannot disjoin them."- Thomas Jefferson
"The world is different now. . . . And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forefathers fought are still at issue around the globe--the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state but from the hand of God."- JFK, Inaugural 1961
The president has limited veto power.
To be sure....Obama wouldn’t veto it. It would pass with a simple majority next year.
If I’m not mistaken, Obama supports this. And it wouldn’t be in the nation’s best interest to have a supporter of this act appointing justices to the Supreme Court.
Cool! I can think of a few people who need to be aborted in the 70th plus trimester...
It would only be retroactive abortion.

He said it was scandalous that after the debate, a woman on the television said she was embarrassed at Sarah Palin and her pro life stance.
He said she is heroic in standing up for life even if at the cost her losing the election.
If it raises the age linit to around 30 or 40 years, we could set about cleaning the place up ... all without repercussions! This would work nicely if the limitations concerning who could abort who’s baby were also lifted!
The left love themselves far more than they love their children, if they love them at all. There is absolutely no hope that the left will ever become decent human beings. All we can do is hope that the children won’t suffer too long when the leftists decide to exterminate their hated burdens. Someday these monsters will make a law that will allow them to exterminate YOUR children in the name of freedom. Why are the worst atrocities done in the name of freedom and progress?
It would have been so much better if life never originated on this f***ing planet.
You are right on with that statement. There was a Harvard genius who several years ago proffered the idea that mothers should have up to a number of months to decide after the birth if the child is viable. I believe that was just pre-”infant born alive act”.
It's Peter Singer, who abominably holds a chair at my alma mater, Princeton.
And he's the child of Holocaust survivors, which makes his position a bit puzzling, to say the least.

"60,000 Reichsmarks is what this hereditary defective costs the people's community during his lifetime. Comrades, this is also your money. Read "A New People" - the monthly publication of the Race-politics Council of the NSDAP (that would be the Nazis)."
I would go for this IF also was the freedom of choice for firearms. Drop off restrictions on the 2nd amendment Federal and STATE. Yeah!!!!
Keep this poster handy for the pro-euthanasia, pro-socialist medicine battle that is next up on the agenda, and probably first on Obama's list. Clinton's was gays in the military. Obama's is going to be socialized medicine, which will carry into partial-birth abortion and euthanasia, or "assisted suicide".
"Hey, it's your body, isn't it? You make the choice, we're just helpin you along!"
"Your unselfish choice helps our bottom line!"
"Make America strong! Take your terminal illness off America's books!"
Another long-winded memo from a bishop.
Of course, the next high profile catholic who promotes abortion on demand as acceptable to Catholic doctrine will be invited to speak at Notre Dame and free to receive Communion.
Talk is cheap.
By signing FOCA into law, Obama can fund abortion with taxpayer dollars. McCain is failing behind by not exposing Obama’s Health Insurance scheme and his desire to cover abortions.
National health insurance abortions—another bad idea brought to U.S. by those wonderful European socialists.
THe pro-life ping list won’t be surprised by this, but they’ll still want to know. Also, this reflects on the kind of judges Obama will appoint.
Here is a declaration that Obama sent out for the 35th anniversary of Roe V Wade.

“And I will continue to defend this right by passing the Freedom of Choice Act as president.”
