(Vanity) Enough with the Negativity Already!
A 10 year old computer and slightly older author | 10-4-08 | xDGx

Posted on 10/04/2008 5:57:46 AM PDT by xDGx

A month to go and we are playing into their hands, and not without a little help. One of the idiosyncracies of FR is the News thread titles are required to be the actual article titles. Hence I'm putting this in News, because this is where the problem lies. If anyone was to sample the article titles covering the election, they would find them to be overwhelmingly negative with respect to Senator McCain and Governor Palin. Just take a quick mental sampling of what we have seen recently - and how often a "Barf Alert" or the like needs to be appended.

The net effect of all this negativity, coupled with the doom & gloom of the economic "October Surprise" is casting a pall over this and many other forums.

There are some folks who seem to thrive on gloom and doom (Y2K anyone?) and then there are the usual agitators, some recent and some longer term members who may have alternate agendas. I have seen this on EVERY board I am on over the past month. Anything to dispirit or demoralize is seized upon and leveraged. This is a known tactic to undermine an opponent's resolve.

Well resolve is what we need right now. It's one month to go, and I am not going to be dragged down by the nattering nabobs of negativity. (props to Safire, writing for Agnew)

Now is not the time to complain about McCain, mope over Michigan, or despair about the Dow. Now is the time to reject the relentless onslaught of slanted polls, Beltway bluster and mindless media chanting and quietly roll up our sleeves and get to work. And that means getting the positive message about our candidates, imperfect as they may be, out to the public.

No campaign is perfect, and this one needs our help. Today. We can argue for the next 30 days about what they should or should not be doing, or we can do something about it. Signs not in? Make your own or have some made locally. (GOPTrunk is off-line, and has possible Dem connections - that's why you are seeing Obama signs everywhere and few McCain signs) Haven't heard from the campaign? Call your local or state organizer. Maybe they NEED someone in your area. Maybe that person is you.

There's an awful lot in the balance, not the least of which are a couple of potential Supreme Court picks for the next administration, and that could change things forever. Not the kind of change we want. Yes we all wish that someone would have stood up and said no to the bailout. Considering Schumer's commments on IndyMac and Reid's on the Insurance Industry and Pelosi's comments on the first failed vote, it would not be surprising that it was a set-up from the git-go, and put our side in a no-win situtation. Wouldn't be the first time. It;s not worth ceding the election over.

You all know darn well there are folks out there actively trying to beat us before the polls open. Don't let them. There will be no glamour or glory. You may not get a lot of thank-you's. All you will get is the quiet satisfaction of knowing you did your very best.

Chin up, people, we know their game and we're not buying into it. Time to go to work.

:)

McCain made his own bed when he signed on to that monstrosity of a “bailout.” And a million times before that. I’ve posted no vanities about and I have no plans to, but I’m pretty seriously pissed off, so pardon me if I need to vent a bit.

Do you think Sara will run against President Obama in 2012? I sure hope she does. That’s about as positive as I get until Johnny takes the gloves off and puts the brass knuckles on.

“And, yet, McCain is within the MOE!!!!!”

In what poll? I could use some good news.

So what then are you going to do about it?

Are you going to complain about the Republicans, the RINO’s and give the Democrats a pass?

If Sarah Palin’s speeches and the prospect of an Obama Presidency don’t stir you into action then one really has to ask who that little picture represents.

Hey I’m not happy about the Bailout either.

There were 73 others who voted ‘Yea’ on it.

Joe Biden & Barack Hussein Obama voted for it, yet everyone is hammering McCain.

I don’t like his stand on amnesty either. But look at what Obama will do with illegals, hell he may well be one himself (see Berg w/r/t his enrollement in Indonesian schools, which would have citizenship as a requirement and subsequent immigration & naturalization to the US, all of which would make Obama ineligible)

So yes, a lot of us are unhappy about some things, but will vote for him anyway. Some grudgingly, some with the hope that maybe he’s not as bad as everyone, including a lot of people from the other side stoking the flames, would have us believe.

More importantly, there are other people out there who are affected by the relentless drumbeat of the media, and those are the folks that we need to support & reenergize.

If one needs to vent, I completely understand, but there is a point where it can drag others down. We can’t go there, not now, not for the next 30 days. After that, anything goes.

If it seems like rah-rah cheerleading, then maybe it is. And maybe some folks need a little bit of that every now and then. Hard to have the TV (idiot box that it is) on for more than an hour without being bombarded by negative noise. I keep my TV off (Internet’s more fun anyway ;) but a lot of people are getting swamped with it. And a lot of people are just looking for a little reminder that all is not lost, the media IS FOS, and this is a horserace that can be won.

Polls, schmolls. They go up, they go down. Considering the people behind them, I would consider Margin of Error as more like +/-15%

What we DO need to do is reinforce that the only poll that matters is Nov 4th (Obama lurkers, you are scheduled to vote on Nov 5th)

Not mindless ‘happy happy joy joy’ blather, but just good hard work getting clear information out there, ESPECIALLY about Barack Hussein Obama and his litany of foibles as a community organizer and such - this is stuff people will NEVER hear in the MSM.

And the defeatism has to go.

Just the prospect of Pelosi gnashing her dentures, Soros having the big one or Olbermann’s gourd exploding should be encouragement enough ;)

So what then are you going to do about it?

An excellent question and am I glad you asked sport. I intend to vote against both Juan McAmnesty and chief Marxist 'O' as they are equally guilty along with their criminal parties for bringing America to its financial knees with their collective unabashed greed. I will be voting third party and giving at least one more American citizen a reason to leave the two fast sinking ships of the Republicrats. I do predict a banner year for the third party voters this election cycle.

Mind you I'm not predicting the Presidency for a third party candidate this year but rather a much larger share of the voters pie thus paving the way for the next time around. Voters are starving for an alternative. Now you may start your self-serving rant about how I'll be wasting my vote or better yet how I'll be nullifying your vote. (grinning from ear to ear about now)

Thus tacitly giving your approving nod for him to not only to continue down his current path but with the belief that you, the Republican voter approves of his track record so far and his plans to continue down that downward spiral for America.

Okay, I get you now!

Negative. To keep Barack Hussein Obama from picking the next two SCOTUS appointees, which combined with a supermajority and the White House makes it game over.

Work on the Congress to get Reagan Conservatives back in the pack, and do a better job in the primaries in 2012, but don't kill the country in the meanwhile because we are not happy with McCain.

(in John Waynes most understanding and condecending tone) Awwww gee sweetheart, now you're trying to be just a little too cute by half. Good try at humor though.

And do you have some special (maybe even physic) knowledge that none of the rest of us have that Juan will pick two Conservatives to the SC? Please do tell because with the folks he has surrounded himself with what makes anyone think he will NOT be picking anyone that has a Conservative bone in their body.

Work on the Congress to get Reagan Conservatives back in the pack, and do a better job in the primaries in 2012, but don't kill the country in the meanwhile because we are not happy with McCain.

You mean the man who has been running away from President Reagan and his brand of Conservatism as fast as he can run? LOL. You're turning out to be a real hoot. Keep it up and maybe ComedyCentral might have a position for you come November.

Even if I told you who what difference would it make?! First and foremost it's none of your or anyone elses business. Just suffice it to say it won't be for a man whom I consider to be a major disaster in waiting to be unleashed on America.

I sense you may feel that the country you served has abandoned you. Perhaps you feel that voting for Dr. Paul (you are voting for Dr. Paul, am I right?) may make your voice heard. It will, but at what cost?

Are you willing to sit back on November 5th and listen to CNN publicly orgasm over the ascension of Obama to the Highest Office in the Land? Will that really teach this country a lesson?

Someone posted this video earlier, and it’s worth a look.

Listen to Yuri Alexandrovitch Bezmenov talking about what happened to the people in Hue City. The people who supported us and were turned in by their Marxist friends and executed.

http://www.poorschmuck.net/wordpress/?p=6306

That’s the future in an Obama world. And you saw it then as you see it now, and I saw it then as I see it now. The battle neither ended nor began in Vietnam. It endures. And it is the obligation of each generation to throw whatever we have against it. Even imperfect candidates.

Teaching the country a lesson may have some short-term satisfaction, but it wounds the country deeply.

I grow tired and weary with my attempted discussion with you. It has become an obvious lost cause as you are only interested in parroting the party line. So I will instead direct my energy at someone else that can actually be reasoned with and will leave McCains campaign talking points behind.. I'm not gonna enlighten you nor will you enlighten me. I used to be where you are now and have seen where it has gotten us as a nation today.

BTW. If you seem to think I'd vote for someone like Ron Paul well then that tells me a good bit about your understanding of people and their politics. Not even a good college try. You're not as smart as you pretend to be. Oh, for what it's worth I happen to think Ron Paul has more going for himself upstairs than Juan does.

I hope you are right about not McCain not appointing Hillary to SCOTUS, but I just don’t trust him. He’s disappointed us so many times before. He wouldn’t have any problem sticking it to us again.

Hillary DOES want SCOTUS. If you read her biography, that was one of the things she wanted to be, along with Marine and astronaut. I believe it was her mother that gave her the idea that she could be SCOTUS.
