Detroit is only 9% of the population of Michigan (compared with 29% in 1950). The population of Detroit has been falling for sixty years, and is now less than half of what it was in 1960.

Nothing that happens politically in Michigan can be explained by Detroit.

the bill to ‘save the financial system’ that McCain thrawted by returning to Washington and shining light on the scurrying rats

Really? Show me his "nay" vote, and "names he has named."

PA does not want to vote for Obama. If McCain campaigns hard there, it can be had.

If true .
Each campaign makes decisions to reallocate resources in the closing weeks .
McCain is limited by federal funding vs Obama is getting tons of foreign monies.

So they’re doing as much damage now as they possibly can. It’s just not going to work.

Not only do some fall for it, some actively spread it and repeat it as often as they can.

I am seeing this on SEVERAL boards.

Thanks for the positive post. I'm about one pessimistic thread away from cutting off FR until after the election. Some here are worse than spoiled children.

Polling firms releasing “registered votes” polls showing Obama gains

NBC saying the election's over

Politico claims McCain's pulling out of MI

An inordinate number of trolls infesting FR

Coincidence......?

Is it too late to replace John Sidney McCain with Mitt Romney? imo, Romney during these times would have carried Michigan and been beating B. Hussein in the polls by double digits.

He lurks around any posts in which he can promote
McCain ‘s Demise . In a carefully worded sense.
Granted he is not ugly .

Why not at least wait until tomorrow to decide?

it shocks me that so many FReepers are so willing to believe every story posted here (except polls that show us down)... we ought to wait and see if this is even true... there have been several times some story was posted, everyone got up in arms and down right mad at McCain... only to have the story be false rumor...

STOP THE CRAP ABOUT MCCAIN YOU PEOPLE HERE ON FREE REPUBLIC. GET OVER IT! TAKE YOUR CRUMMY WHINING AND GO THE HELL HOME AND TELL US YOU'VE JOINED THE OBAMA CAMP!!!

I agree. I am SO SICK of these Negative Nellies whining and throwing in the towel a month before Election Day. They accuse McCain of giving up, but what are THEY doing???

Good grief...if we'd had these people fighting wars for us, we'd have surrendered in the first week in every one of them. We'd still be British subjects, for crying out loud.

Buck UP, and grow up, you wimps and stop the drama queen stuff!

Agreed. Also means he will not come back here. He was rumored to return at least two more times, one of those to Ottawa County.

So much for being a fighter/maverick. Truly disappointing.

McCain bashers stampeding to this thread indeed!!!

California has NEVER been “in play” yet Palin is having a big rally near Long Beach this weekend! Why bother?

I’m sick of these statements thrown out there (Politico) so early that we are giving up in various areas.

Also agree that if Obama thought he had MI so much in the bag he could go elsewhere to shout his hope, uh, change, um, blah blah nothing messages.

I am still optimistic and will remain so until November 5.

NH is the most likely blue state to flip, followed by WI and PA, then MI, IA or MN.

Somebody here finally gets it. :) I have been talking up Wisconsin, but yes there is also NH. And NM, despite what the recent polling says there. Mark it here: if McCain wins the national vote, he will win NM as well. I also think McCain would have a slightly better chance to steal IA than either MI or MN. I could be wrong about that because of the ethanol issue.
