The pressure is on Bostons own Gwen Ifill as the PBS veteran prepares to moderate tonights much anticipated vice presidential debate amid revelations shes writing a flattering book on Democrat Barack Obama.
The timing of the tome, The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama, which is scheduled to debut on Inauguration Day, has also called into question Ifills impartiality as referee of the Sarah Palin-Joe Biden debate, which is shaping up to be the most watched in history.
Its probably not the greatest thing on Earth that she is in that role and its probably going to really force her to be fully even-handed, Thomas Patterson, professor of government and the press at Harvards Kennedy School of Government, told the Herald yesterday. If anything, shes got to be really careful with her questioning of Sarah Palin.

yeah, right....
Just another PRESSTITUTE from the MSM.. nothing new here
The whole MSM is in the tank for the Rats so there’s no one that would call her on it if she’s not fair.
On the plus side, Ifill probably hates Palin and Biden equally. They are both white.
The subject of the book has been common knowledge for months, Time or Newsweek were mentioning it over the summer. And now, all of a sudden, the McCain camp is hearing about it? Are they that behind the times? Or is this a potential excuse for a poor Palin performance tonight?
***The whole MSM is in the tank for the Rats so thereâs no one that would call her on it if sheâs not fair***
You are right, but this situation is more “in your face” than even wimpy pubs should stand for.
Libs have all the time in the world to move their agenda because:
they don’t work...
they don’t have intact families that need them...
they have no ethics/morals to restrain them...
GO FREEPERS, finish the list...oh yeah, we work.
I was looking forward to this debate, now it reeks of deceit and treachery.
No conflict of interest here.
Move along, move along.....
“Its probably not the greatest thing on Earth that she is in that role and its probably going to really force her to be fully even-handed,”
Wouldn’t you expect her to be even handed anyway, like Jim Lehrer was?
***the Washington Post, New York Times [NYT], NBC and PBS,...***
With that resume, she’s so soaked in socialism that she doesn’t have to worry about fairness. Her handers will promote her to the same role as HItler’s propagandist, Goebells.
Ifill’s worse than simply a partisan hack.
She has been despicably dishonest with everyone from the get-go in agreeing to “moderate” tonight’s debate.
She needs to be thrown out of the debate, and someone more “impartial” and “fair” put in . . . like, . . . um, er . . . Dan Rather.
Talk about a deeper problem - She couldn’t have been less phased about the criticism and more dismissive or patronizing of the “blog chatter” - she was oddly confident that she would not be removed: “I’ve got a pretty long track record covering politics and news, so I’m not particularly worried that one-day blog chatter is going to destroy my reputation,” Ifill said. “The proof is in the pudding. They can watch the debate tomorrow night and make their own decisions about whether or not I’ve done my job.”
“Ifill said Obama’s story, which she has yet to write, is only a small part of the book, which discusses how politics in the black community have changed since the civil rights era. Among those subjects is Colin Powell, secretary of state in the Bush administration.”
I wonder if her publisher knew Colin Powell was going to be written about before yesterday.
Thank you - it was cathartic reading your post. “despicably dishonest” - precisely.
Rush says W believes the president, for example, should be above partisanship. But when he doesn't stand up for himself he's not standing up for me, you or the rest of the American people. Its mind boggling.
Nothing new about her biases:

Why the uproar about the book. Once you say she is from PBS all pretense to impartiality has flown out the window....
Ive got a pretty long track record covering politics and news, so Im not particularly worried that one-day blog chatter is going to destroy my reputation, Ifill told the Associated Press. The proof is in the pudding. They can watch the debate tomorrow night and make their own decisions about whether or not Ive done my job. Ifill
WRONG ANSWER, GWEN.
Arrogance.
She already didn’t do her job by failing to inform the debate committee about her conflict of interest: cashing in big time on an Obama win.
