Richard Viguerie: Bailout is Conservatives' Path to Power in 2010
Christian Newswire ^ | Oct 1 2008 | Richard A Viguerie

Posted on 10/01/2008 7:48:24 PM PDT by Milhous

MANASSAS, Virginia, Oct. 1 /Christian Newswire/ -- Opposition to the $700 billion Wall Street bailout is the conservatives' path toward winning control of Congress in the 2010 elections, Richard A. Viguerie, Chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, said.

"Conservatives will challenge, in primaries and general elections, both Republicans and Democrats who vote for the bailout. In the next election, you will see the election of a new generation of principled conservative leaders - a change that will remake Congress," he said.

Viguerie added: "The American people have recognized the bailout for what it is - an attempt by the economic and political elite to extort money and power at the expense of the American taxpayer and of future generations. Many of the bailout supporters will get away with it this year simply because it's too late for someone to run against them. But wait 'til the next election.

"As I've noted before, the Panama Canal Treaty in 1977 dramatically changed the face of American politics, with 21 of the Senate's Treaty supporters going down to defeat in the next two elections and only one Treaty opponent losing. The bailout is one of those defining, us-versus-them issues that reveals, in one vote, who is on the side of the people and who is on the side of the Wall Street and Washington special-interest fat cats and their lobbyists."

"The potential for change is even greater than in the case of the Panama Canal treaty," Viguerie said, "because only Senators voted on the treaty, while this issue will affect both Senators and members of the House."

Too bad most of them will eventually vote for it.

Nice thread though. I like what you've done with the place.

We need conservatives running against RINOs all over the country in 2010. And, then against Democrats.

I’d say the large majority of these d*mn senators don’t have a clue what they are doing up there, besides getting a paycheck. It’s pretty bad when the citizenry see this for what it is and those in congress don’t.

Not an entirely bad article, except that the writer misses the BIG POINT. People are mad first of all because this mess is an embarrassment to the country and they want heads to roll for letting this happen.

The truth is getting out there. Hannity was saying that just today. Its taking a while because we don't have a fair and responsible msm. Eventually, they will be forced to cover it.

FACT: Carter Administration started Fannie Mae
FACT: Democrats expanded Fannie Mae twice
FACT: Democrats blocked all attempts to regulate FM
FACT: Democrats chided criticism of FM as racist
FACT: Democrats ridiculed hearing as "public lynching of Frank Raines"
FACT: Democrats cussed and dissed the regulator attempting to rein in FM in a 2004 Senate Hearing
FACT: President Bush tried numerous times to regulate FM but was blocked by Democrats
FACT: McCain co-authored bill to regulate FM in 2005, blocked by Democrats

FACT: DEMOCRATS ARE TOAST IN THIS ELECTION. DO THEY KNOW IT YET? THEY WILL :)

I can't believe that McCain or the 527 will not actually list dates and names etc

There are 4 weeks to the election and the democrats have to be scared still knowing this info is available

Agreed!! How the heck is McCain going to be the new “sheriff in town” if he gets elected if he is afraid to kick arse and take names now when everything is at stake.

Yep. If those two socialists, Obama and McCain would BOTH lose, we'd all dance in the streets!

Commensurately, it is important to actively promote those who oppose it.

For one, Mike Pence, who should be Minority Leader en route to running for President in 2012.

This and energy security.

We need to keep the pressure high. We beat Dubai Ports, we beat amnesty (at least for now), and we can beat this. But as with amnesty, we’l;l hve to keep the pressure on to keep it down. Our so-called representatives are trying to outlast us.

The pork and other crap in the bill sucks, but if the buying and later selling of the undervalued assets works well and quickly - and if the dumb moves that led to it are fixed - then the bill will be a success and a good thing for the economy and the taxpayers. Certainly better than the alternative of doing nothing.

We are told we need this bill so that we can have renewed confidence in

______(insert any noun here)______

I'm a very ordinary American who will feel less confident.

How can anyone trust something so arbitrary?

With energy costs so high...

This is not the time to invest in Rube Goldberg machines.

I like the way the word DEMron very simply attaches a very complex scandal to the party most responsible for it.
