I Fear for my Country
Many ^ | 10/1/08 | ImpeachedRapist

Posted on 10/01/2008 5:48:46 PM PDT by impeachedrapist

The following are the reasons why tonight I fear for my country:

That could have been my assessment four years ago. What happened? A backlash against the media and Democrats like I don’t recall seeing in my lifetime. After losing the general election by a half million votes just four years earlier, President Bush won just over 3 million votes and captured 286 electoral votes.

Wanna argue my last point, that the media wasn’t as bad four years ago as it is today? Think again. We had a North Vietnamese war hero (idolized in a portrait in the Communist country) on videotape smearing his country and her military during a time of war. About 250 of his wartime colleagues, including a Medal of Honor winner, held a press conference denouncing him in May 2004. They were virtually ignored, and had to raise their own funds just to be heard.

Not only are McCain/Palin not losing right now, they’re still in a stronger position than the Obamessiah.

The only way Obamessiah/Biden win in November is if we’re all foolish enough to buy this Dem-created and media-driven nonsense. After the Palin selection they know they can’t realistically win, due to a fired up conservative base. Their only chance is to depress conservative turnout. And based on the garbage I’ve seen on this forum – a lot from folks who should know better – I’d say they’re at least partially succeeding.

To all you hysterical drama queens and handwringers apparently suffering from amnesia and political bipolar disorder, I leave you with the words of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger [sort of] at the 2004 GOP convention:

Don’t be a girlie man… vote McCain/Palin!!

It appeared briefly in Breaking. If you didn’t put it there, then pardon me.

Lots of posters have been posting vanities in Breaking the past few days. It’s become annoying.

All the people who took out risky mortgages are responsible for McCain tanking in the polls?

You didn’t quote Arnold, you paraphrased him.

LOL, in a way yes, they are responsible (along with MANY others) for the mess we are in. At the end of the day if you can't find someone to foist lousy loans on you don't have a subprime mess.

Oh, I did put this one in Breaking. I thought you meant I’d put other ones there. No, even my moronic “milk” and “lunch” vanities only went to Front Page or Extended News. Unlike those actual vanities, though, this article is really a serious post based on political news. Old articles from 2004 used to support contemporary challenges (read: mass hysteria) of this election year.

I’d venture to say that 95% of the people who took out subprime mortgages are voting for 0bama anyways...

I like vanities. I like when Freepers take “the bullhorn.”

Freepers should be able to share their thoughts. If they have a point that they want to expand upon, why not?

Why should all the talking heads and “journalists” have more pull than those that make the forum a forum?

Why not create a section just for vanities? That way the we don’t interrupt the re-education of the MSM addicts.

"Please let us know if you are having any trouble collecting from your credit customers. Have you had any trouble with your bank reducing your line of credit or cutting off all short term borrowing?"

In fact and only to test the situation, I went to the bank to borrow what is about 10% of my total annual income yesterday and you know what they told me?

"Thank you, is there anything else I can assist you with today?"

The only tight credit is for people who shouldn't be borrowing the money to begin with. This is a sham, a scam and a lie. I can't quite put my finger on how they've managed to convince every major leader of each party, house, senate and executive branch but something very VERY bizarre is going down here and it is NOT what they're telling us it is.

Credit is no tighter right now than it should be and the stock market is going to be fine (fine after some very reasonable corrections!).

Sure some more banks will fail and there is obvious major turmoil about to happen, but this stampede to do this bail out bill has me a lot more scared than the thoughts of what might happen if we do not do it.

This talk of businesses that can't make payroll without credit is either 100% Bull Manure or we have a lot of businesses that are in fact already insolvent. If your business needs short term credit to make payroll, you should accept the fact that your business is insolvent, with or without this bailout your business should close it's doors. Credit is not for "making payroll" and if that's really what we've come to, we're way past over extended. Personally, I think they've taken what might be 4 such instances in the country and exagerating things to make it sound like every business in the country needs credit to make payroll.

Yes I know of car dealerships who are hurting, but those are the dealerships you've all heard screaming on the radio adds about how anyone can get a new car for only $89 a month, no credit, slow credit or bad credit, anyone for $89 a month..... those car dealerships SHOULD be hurting as they are part of the problem with the types of loans they've been living on.

No doubt there will be "adjustments" but there will not be the apocalypse our precious leaders are so convinced of.

It's all hype people and we need to call their bluff and let the cards be laid out for all to see.

I restored your thread to the news forum, vanity. Do not post vanities in breaking news and I would like to post your abuse report in this comment but that kind of language is not acceptable on FR. It’s also not acceptable in an abuse report.

You’re pushing your luck.

Did something similar. The thing is if you have bad credit, they won't loan to you. And that is racist! /sarcasm.
But something is up. We are being very carefully managed. Look for someone to come out of the shadows to "save" us.

The United States is a very resiliant country. I expect osamaobama to win, although I am holding out hope that the American people come to their senses on election day. His marxist views, beliefs and the policies they will result in will hurt the country but not destroy it.

I wish I had your optimism. I honest to God believe that if Obama wins our republic is dead and he sets himself up as a cross between Hugo Chavez, Hitler, Stalin, AND Saddam Hussein. I also do NOT envision Obami ever leaving the oval office, he sets himself up as perpetual Dictator of a newly formed USSA. The constitution you say????? Pfff. Obama just gets rid of it, end of story. We are so screwed.

Before you call me a loon, remember Missouri. You know, the voter threats of prosecution and 1st amendment violations that Obama has attempted there, also in PA, and everywhere else you can think of sending in the legal teams using intimidation BEFORE he is even elected????

I will become concerned when I see reliable evidence that Obama is actually leading among likely voters. So far all I see are mostly media polls with samples that overrepresent Democrats and underrepresent Republicans (and mostly sampling registered voters rather than likely voters using a tested and reliable methodology for separating one from the other). Just tonight I saw yet another phony CBS poll using a sample with way too few Repblicans in it and using a likely voter model that projects turnout of — get this — almost 75 percent of registered voters!

I have never seen so many phony polls in an election cycle as I am seeing this year, especially in the last three weeks.

Forgive me please. I forgot to praise the youth of ‘68 for

1) at least *searching* for truth in drugs, counterculture, before accepting the false values of peace and personal affluence
2) fighting the Vietnam War. That takes more guts than I could have scraped together at 18

Nope. This is definitely a vanity and not a news article.

Should be posted somewhere else. I’m tired of sorting through the increasing number of vanities to find the real news stories.

If the people elect Obama, they deserve everything that they get. If we allow him to be elected, we deserve everything that we get.

The people always get the government they deserve. If we have idiotic leaders it is because we put up with them. Period.
