Did you know the cosmetics and body care products you use on a daily basis could be contaminated with chemicals?
The Environmental Working Group performed laboratory tests and detected 16 chemicals in blood and urine samples from 20 teenage girls between the ages of 14 and 19.
These chemicals are linked to health risks such as cancer and hormone disruption, according to a report released last week by the Environmental Working Group.
The group recommends that consumers avoid the following ingredients when purchasing beauty products:

As Roseanne Rosanna Danna said, “if it’s not one thing, it’s another!”
Good thing it is for teens, love my lactic acid.
Now that’s a list. I have been in contact with most of them altho not constantly.
I gave up all but a light day moisturizer.
Not to mention all the crap that goes on or in our bodies winds up in the water,
but then again so do pesticides.
Interesting site here. You can type in the name of your products and the safety rating comes up.

Thank you for posting this. I have two teen girls and I am going to make them read it.
What are the detected amounts compared to the amount considered dangerous? Labs can test to amounts far below the dangerous amount. Even though most American money has detectable cocaine residue on it doesn't mean you can get high by sniffing a $20 bill.
The others should have been like Erin. Livin' green is what it's all about. Including this study.
While teen girls were the focus of this study, I am concerned about the effects on adult women as well. The effects are probably not as great since the teen’s body is still in development (which makes me even more suspicious of teen birth control use).
Ping!
Add to this, all the plastics we use.
thanks, bfl
Is this how China dumps their toxic chemicals? Wouldn’t surprise me.
I verry skeptical. IIRC, EWG is an anti-capitalist far-left organization. Besides, as John Stossel says, toxicity is in the DOSE NOT in the substance. Most of those “dangerous” chemicals are used as preservatives (which actually act to PREVENT illness) or stabilizers and are in doses so tiny that you’re more likely to get sick from the tiny specks of dirt on the lettuce leaf in your salad.
