WASILLA, Alaska - Sarah Palin and her husband have pieced together a uniquely Alaskan income that reached comfortably into six figures even before she became governor, capitalizing on valuable fishing rights, a series of land deals and a patchwork of other ventures to build an above-average lifestyle.

They did everything they could to bump the number, too. They even tracked down a $16.50 dividend: “Sarah Palin reported Todd Palin collecting $266 and each child $21 in dividends last year from BBNC, and a total of $16.50 from Choggiung Limited.”
Wow! Did they break into their home and check the kids’ piggybanks? /SPIT
Good for her!
so they made money through their small business and todd working a blue collar job. this is suppose to be negative???
what the heck
Continue reading the article and it's stated that the Palins' property and income are similar to most Alaskans. Most Alaskans own lots of land and have hunting cottages dotted all over the place. In a state the size of California, Texas, and Montana combined with a population of roughly 600,000 -- purchasing large swaths of land is not unusual!
You also learn that most Alaskans have small aircrafts to travel around in because there are many areas that cannot be accessed by roads, and you also learn that Todd Palin inherited his 1958 plane (the red Piper Super Cub seen in all the pictures), and it's been in his family for 20 years and is worth less than what these "journalists" paid for their Lexuses.
These "journalists" have basically run what is called a "wealth assessment" on the Palins. I worked in nonprofit, I know about research and wealth profiles. The profile issued here would not classify the Palins as "major gift" donor potential. They're comfortably upper middle class.
How do I know this? Well, because the bottom line is how much they make a year, and the fact is that the Palins make what Obama and Biden would consider middle class incomes. And that's not even factoring in the very real cost of living difference between Alaska and the rest of the country. Alaska has one of the highest, if not the highest, cost of living in the nation due to heating expenses. $200K a year in Alaska is like $140K in Ohio or Indiana. Either way, according to Obama's plan, they wouldn't be taxed because they're considered "middle class".
These "journalists" are trying to discredit her middle class status because they know that it provides a powerful connection with voters. Their behavior is beyond biased; it's intellectually dishonest. They're really hoping that readers don't carefully read the entire article and think about the conclusions drawn.
And they're lying about that. Please take a look at my post #45. I do wealth assessments for nonprofits. I know of what I speak when I say that the Palins are not "rich". This is totally dishonest journalism.
Again, take a look at my post #45 for my explanation.
Why don’t the authors list the assets of the other 49 State Governors and their spouses?
Due to the cost of living In Alaska $1,000,000 is about equal to $500,000 in other places outside the major cities.
She never had to buy a rape kit ‘cause she owns guns.
The Washington Times reports that over the past decade, the speaker funneled $99,000 in rent, utilities and accounting charges from her political action committee to Financial Leasing Services, a real estate and investment firm owned by her husband, Paul Pelosi a practice the House voted to ban last year with Pelosi's support (after which the bill failed in the Senate).
Since her husband became treasurer of the speaker's PAC to the Future, the payments have quadrupled, according to Federal Election Commission records.
According to the Times, the PAC's rent grew to four times what it was early this year; a Pelosi senior adviser told the paper this was due to San Francisco's expensive real estate market.
and don't let the wrong woman get her mitts into your dough.
Maybe that was a subset of 2.
In other words, she’s worth about 1/400th of what John and Terayza Kerry are worth.

I know. I was just saying while it isn’t and outright smear it is an attempt to take away the connection she has with people. Of course it won’t really work but nothing else has so they have to try this now.
I didn’t go through the articles closely, they’re so insinuating and dumb—but was there anywhere mentioned about what kind of a mortgage she holds on the place? They act as if she owns everything outright.
