NEW YORK - PBS journalist Gwen Ifill, moderator of the upcoming vice presidential debate, dismissed conservative questions about her impartiality because she is writing a book that includes material on Barack Obama.
Ifill said Wednesday that she hasn't even written her chapter on Obama for the book "The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama," which is to be published by Doubleday on Jan. 20, 2009, the day a new president is inaugurated.
"I've got a pretty long track record covering politics and news, so I'm not particularly worried that one-day blog chatter is going to destroy my reputation," Ifill said. "The proof is in the pudding. They can watch the debate tomorrow night and make their own decisions about whether or not I've done my job."

Ifill questions why people assume that her book will be favorable toward Obama.
"Do you think they made the same assumptions about Lou Cannon (who is white) when he wrote his book about Reagan?" said Ifill, who is black. Asked if there were racial motives at play, she said, "I don't know what it is. I find it curious."

she plays the race card!lol
I question the use of pbs people anyway and whether this woman is impartial or not I don’t know, but it certainly looks bad for her to remain as moderator.
I call total B.S. on that statement. The book is subtitled "the Age of Obama' and she's not even written the chapters about Obama? And the book is being released in 3 months?
How much you want to bet one of the questions will be something like...”How would you work to improve the situation of minority groups in this country?”
It’s already posted on Amazon.com
I know.
Boy, that sure was a surprise, wasn't it?
No, it does not. Case closed. At least, her appearance requires a disclaimer at the top of the show.
I support McCain 100% but if this backfires, i will be the first to say....Is McCain a dud like Bush??? Where is the fight in McCain, im waiting for his fight?
She is racially biased, and politically biased. Not ready for primetime debate moderator. Maybe she will grow intellectually, but until then, she should be canned as an appropriate moderator for debates between people that view the country as populated by Americans...not black Americans, and democrat Americans. Extremely poor choice for moderator.
What I do find truly remarkable is how quickly she whips out the race card. Who wants to bet that she asks at least one question along these lines: "Ms. Palin, what do you say to all of your supporters who are voting against Obama solely because he is black?"
Chapter? the book has obama in the title and she tries to tell us there will only be a "chapter" in the book on him? LOL, nice try gwen
VP Debate Mod Ifill to release Obama book Jan. 20 (nah, no bias)

"Includes material"?????
How, pray tell, will we know when you or someone on your staff prepped Biden on which questions would be asked? Since that part of your "moderating" won't be on display, how about if we require that questions be drawn from a drum, witnessed by both parties immediately before the debate?
Not that we don't trust you or anything.
“The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama”
The title says it all. She will benefit financially if Obama wins. Clear conflict of interest and its not even a close case.
I'd be really worried if they said they were putting Obama in a "Cone of Silence".
No kidding. “Includes material” my buttocks. It’s in the friggin’ title!
