L.A. Times Microanalyzes Bible for Sarah Palin Hit Piece
NewsBusters ^ | October 1, 2008 | P.J. Gladnick

The Los Angeles Times seems to have taken a sudden new interest in biblical study. No, they haven't become religious or anything close to that. Instead, they are microanalyzing the Bible for passages that they think they can use to slam Sarah Palin for running for vice-president. They are also searching the countryside to dig up the very few strongly religious Christians they can find who think Palin is wrong to run for public office. Let us now join Times reporter, Teresa Watanabe, as she begins her biblical studies in her story with an ulterior motive (emphasis mine):

In a white-steepled church along a stretch in picturesque canyon country, the preacher laid out the basic blueprint of a godly marriage: Husbands lead, wives submit.

See where this is going right from the get-go? The reporter is going to use the Bible to suggest to believers that Sarah Palin is violating the "basic blueprint of a godly marriage."

Did the L.A. Times also microanalyze a koran for a bar rock osama “Hit Piece”? < /sarcasm>

At least it shows that while Denzel Washington isn’t necessarily a conservative, he actually is pretty reasonable compared to most of the other celebidiots in Hollywood.

I can't get past "thou shalt not kill"

Cusack, put down that poorly translated 'bible' immediately.

The commandment is "thou shalt not murder".

The simple-minded tactics of ‘progressives’ ... use the systems and principles of your enemies against them.

When we start stoning heathens to death in the public square, it might make sense to revisit the ‘husbands lead, wives submit’ tenets.

I love watching folks who have NO understanding of it trying to tell us what the Bible and Christianity is all about.

It’s like me, (a total NON-mechanical guy) trying to tell engineers how a car should be put together and why they are wrong doing it how they’re doing it.

Well, if “husbands lead, and wives submit”, Sarah is the worst kind of heretic, and The First Dude must be VERY confused. Not so ironically also, it’s as though it is THEY who are giving her that Church’s dictate, implying, along with the FemHags, that, yes, indeed, if you’re the kind of woman Sarah is, you are SUPPOSED to submit, and not go doing stupidly iconoclastic things like being Governor of a large state. Not very different from the general Islamic worldview , by the way.

It's amazing how the godless run to the Bible when they want to prove their perverted point. Yet if you suggest they run to the Bible in order to know how to live according to God's holy will, they'll spit in your face and call you intolerant.

The Word of God never comes back void. If they "study" it, it will either produce fruit (repentance and salvation), or judgment.

I've always thought of Judge Deborah as a strong positive role-model for all women...and men.

Yes, she was and God didn’t condemn her for being a leader. As a matter of fact I think God himself sent the judges to the people. That was back before the kings when judges were appointed to lead the people.

Someone needs to send them a copy of the Book of Esther if they want to go down this road.

Excellent!

Then there is the unique praise heaped upon the Godly wife in Proverbs 31, who by the way, uses here own money to buy a field and plants a vineyard, v 16. How many California vineyards the LA Times praises are owned and run by a woman? In the Pelosi family, the vineyard is owned by the man.

Also praiseworthy is her skill at retailing where she often works late. Verse 18

But in every effective organization, someone must lead, and that call was made by God to designate the husband for that task. Sorry, Times, this is one of those decisions that come from the very highest paygrade.

Does the LA Times actually think they can win a debate on the Bible with the Religious Right? Talk about bringing a spitball and straw to a tank fight.

Denzel’s father was a preacher, so he’s probably pretty familiar with the verses that are often ignored by the Left when they try to use Christ as a bludgeon against Christians.

"The Left, which openly holds Christian faith in contempt, ALWAYS feels qualified to lecture Christians on how we should live that faith."

And sometimes the idiots on the left, and their rhetoric, reach absurd heights -- for example, when they use the Bible to claim that homosexuality is normal.

But the fact that the leftists -- Meryl Streep, Obama, and the others -- use the Bible, cite the Bible, is a sign that we are winning. They are terrified of us Christians because in their hearts they know we are a political force to be reckoned with. That's why their politicians (Kerry, Obama, Edwards, Pelosi) keep pretending to be Christian.
