Morris: "McCain is losing the election this minute"
Fox News | 9/30/08

Posted on 09/30/2008 1:33:52 PM PDT by pabianice

Dick Morris on Fox: McCain is bungling the bail-out issue so badly that he has basically lost the election by "a lot; will be 12 points behind Obama next week." McCain "is giving this issue away to Obama" by being ineffective and not pinning it rightfully on Pelosi, ACORN, and the Dems.

Pro-Obama ads are running 3-1 vs. McCain ads. Obama videos/Yoytube are running ten to one against McCain. I can't understand how a brave warrior like McCain can be so blind and go down with no fight. HOW can McCain let the ACORN issue just slide away?

His support for the BAILOUT has helped to destroy his claim of being a ‘maverick’. Sad.

He thinks being a maverick is reaching across the aisle-fine do that once you are in the White House when necessary but not now

don't send her out to do battle with MSM, they are not the objective, beating Obama is the objective.

That's the beauty and the danger of these debates with every one of your fellow citizens who care watching.

BAD NEWS: You might mess up. I would probably freeze up like Cliff Clavin from Cheers on Jeopardy. You could sweat like a hostage like Richard Nixon vs. JFK. Or you could spit the bit, choke like _________ (insert your favorite sports choke moment here).

GOOD NEWS: The New York Times and the MSM are not there to censor you. You are free to talk directly to the American people and make a favorable impression that will not change no matter what they read tomorrow.

I'm starting to think that Sarah is the only candidate with enough sack to pull this off. Wouldn't that be ironic?

What’s amazing and shows that some things never change, Reagan’s ‘advisors’ warned him not to use the line “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.” in that famous speech. Fortunately, Reagan knew better, but unfortunately, the same advisory ‘geniuses’ are still at work today. I hope Sarah tells them to shove it.

The State Dept was also upset that Reagan was going to use the term 'evil empire' in his speech. Every time the speech was staffed (many, many times)--it was scratched.

Reagan put it back in and said it anyway!

"change tactics"

It will be real hard to get McCain to change since he's built his whole career and this campaign on being an outsider. He's ostensibly a Republican, but every Freeper knows he takes more pleasure out of attacking his own party than he does his opponents. You're right, it's time to pin this debacle on the Dems, but for McCain to do that would mean ditching his whole gagworthy "reform" message. He wants to be seen as reforming both parties. That's why Palin has been so ineffective on the stump. She's been forced to adopt McCains ridiculous both-parties-are-guilty scenario. The situation is ripe to turn this around, but I'm afraid a leopard (or a maverick) can't change his spots.

That is part of being a leader. You take the wise advice from your advisors. But at the end of the day it’s your call. You’re the man/woman for crying out loud.

Gov. Palin must discuss this basic principle regarding the financing of those with no credit when asked about the Wall Street mess. Republicans believe in the equality of opportunity.
Democrats believe in the equality of results.

I won't go into further discussion on this simple, but effective axiom. Americans do not want to pay the bill for those that got preferential treatment.

I think the bad week was last Mon. through yesterday. Could be wrong, but I think I detected a slight uptick yesterday, continuing today. In other words, I think he was already floundering a little bit with the economic stuff before the bailout bill became news-—especially when he gave that lameoid “fire Chris Cox” nonsense.

It wasn’t his stump speech outside a diner in Scranton, PA unc, it was all he talked about when it came to economic policy in a nationally televised debate last Friday.

We will see what he does when the economy is the main topic

Actually, McCain had a decent polling day today.

I can’t take this guy seriously:

Morris, September 26, 2008:

“Then McCain comes out of the process as the hero who made it happen when the president couldn’t and Obama wouldn’t.... He becomes the bailout expert. And, of course, the bailout will work.

“This bold move by McCain is about to work. Big time. “

Morris, September 29, 2008

“McCain Should Not Support Bailout

Congress is about to pass, and the president is about to sign, a bill that the American people detest by 2-to-1 margins.”

” Do you think that’s smart? “

Yes, because I don’t believe in following a strategy that has been publicly broadcast.....

I don’t recall hearing about triangulation until after it was successful

If Dick really wanted to help McCain he would have given him this in private, and if he needed to puff his ego, just say I’ve talked to the McCain advisors and offered a few tips.

” I recruited 5 new voters for McCain/Palin today. “

I’ve picked up one a day for the last 5 days.

P.S. This is in Florida

Places: Blockbuster Video, Barber Shop, local supermarket.

The chatter is out there on the bailout etc, all you need to do is talk about how they have responsibly paid off debt and do they really want someone in office who has nothing but giveaway’s off our backs...........

Everyone is treating Morris’ words like gospel truth, when in fact not too long ago Hillary was his pick!

The more McCain opened his stupid mouth, the more I begin to think that an Obama presidency may not be too bad at all. Yes, Obama may screw America, but the effect will be temporary, he would be voted out in 4 years and the people will finally see the true face of a radical liberal. Our institution is too big and too strong to be destroyed by one person.

I really cannot imagine voting for John McCain right now. He is giving me every reason not to vote for him.

But McCain just said today he asked George Bush to give away 1 trillion dollar to buy up bad loans, bypassing the Congress!!! Granted, the money comes from the Treasury, but where does the Treasury gets the money from, it's from the people!!!!!!!! No no..McCain.. you are a disgrace.

Based on how they sound when they’re interviewed I’m afraid it is. It also explains a lot about what they’ve done to Sarah. In the end, though, I hold the candidate accountable. McCain is a a liberal, and Sarah needs to put her foot down, and get up on current events.
