Prosecutors on Obama 'Truth Squad' sound retreat (New developments in Missouri)

No one involved 'has any intention of prosecuting anybody'

Missouri law officials, including public prosecutors, who were reportedly planning to "respond immediately" to any misleading advertisements against Barack Obama if they "might violate Missouri ethics laws," have now backed off the intimidating implications of that report, promising they have no intention of prosecuting anyone.

A spokeswoman for St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce . . . told WND that the televised "Truth Squad" announcement was misunderstood.

"The only action they would take would be to provide truthful information to the public so they can make up their minds," said Susan Ryan. "Neither (Joyce) nor anybody involved in this has any intention of prosecuting anybody."

When asked if the initial announcement suggested legal ramifications for "crossing ethics laws in Missouri," Ryan confirmed, "Unfortunately it did suggest that, but the 'Truth Squad' has no intention of prosecuting anyone for this."

When [Gov. Matt] Blunt was asked if he would take action against the attorneys, he said, "They have really stepped back from how they announced this. When they announced this I think it was intimidating. … In a lot of ways they have reversed course, and I'm glad to see that."

"Unfortunately it did suggest that. . . ." There is the key quote. The Obama Truth Squad (Jennifer Joyce's office, at least) finally is admitting that the McCulloch and Joyce rollout in the KMOV report DOES come across as intimidation against free speech!

Barack Obama, Bob McCulloch, Jennifer Joyce, John Mills, KMOV--all are covered with shame on this. And they would not have realized or admitted they were wrong if we had not showed them their error and hammered it home.

This is good news! So congratulations, defenders of the First Amendment! Now let's continue to be vigilant, lest Obama-style fascism rear its ugly head again.

Don’t kid yourself, these jackasses knew exactly what this was all about.

I made my calls. Now The Missouri Bar needs to launch an investigation of these people.

Funny how the “Truth Squad” is rather loose with the truth.

I hope that my good friends in Missouri will remove all of these people from office. These officials are disgusting and need to be put out to pasture. A look at disbarment might be enlightening too.

"The only action they would take would be to provide truthful information to the public so they can make up their minds," said Susan Ryan.

So are they going to talk about Obama's ties to socialist radicals?

Don’t kid yourself, these jackasses knew exactly what this was all about.

But now they've had to back off. And they know we'll be watching them, close, and raising a stink the next time "there's a whiff of fascism in the air."

"The only action they would take would be to provide truthful information to the public so they can make up their minds,"

That'll be a start.

When are they going to "provide truthful information" again? I'm anxious to see if the sun will still rise in the east when they do.

Is the original threat of prosecution a violation of civil rights laws, or did they have to actually arrest and prosecute someone who was not sufficiently enthusiastic about 0bama before they could themselves be arrested, tried and imprisoned for their actions?

The 0bama truth squad's action is just one very tiny step short of using firehoses and police dogs on their political opponents.

They won’t prosecute today. That will happen after The One has taken office next January.

I watched the broadcast and the threat was certainly implicit. I don’t doubt for one second the Obama people would bring criminal charges against his critics if they had the opportunity. All it will take is a few tweaks of campaign finance laws and the passage of a couple of carefully nuanced hate crime bills and then the hounds will be loosed.

"I'm a small, Democratic sheriff in rural Missouri," Boyer told WND. "I haven't even seen the original interview with Jennifer Joyce and Bob McCulloch. … All I know is, I came into my office on Monday morning unaware of any of this. I had a fundraiser Saturday, when all this started, of my own. I came into my office Monday morning, and I've got 500 emails and 19 nasty phone calls calling me a communist pig! I think, 'Man, I thought it was a pretty good fundraiser.'"

:-D I don't know this guy from Adam, but he sounds like a Dem I could definitely have a beer with!

They were testing the boundaries of what folks would put up with.

What I really hate are the people that say - “see, they didn’t get away with it, so stop being so alarmed”.

Just like the things you see in California - some ahole legislator tries to get Communism taught in schools, or homeschooling outlawed, or Marxine Waters threatens to “socialize” the oil industry, and we’re supposed to “not worry about it” because they didn’t get it done.

That is what Obama is doing, testing at all the key points...how far can I step on civil liberties? Will they object to intimidation tactics? How about re-educacting children to be ‘Obama Kids’? Maybe a civil force as strong as the military? Push here, nudge there...steal power wherever I can.

If they weren’t planning on legal recourse, then why use attorneys to point out the (so called) truth?
