Could an Obama loss spark race riots? (Let's Vote McCain/Palin And See.)
One News Now ^ | 9/30/2008 | Jim Brown

A political scientist at a Christian college in New York City warns that if Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama loses the election on November 4, race riots could break out in large U.S. cities.

A recent Associated Press-Yahoo News poll suggested Senator Obama's race could cost him up to six percentage points on election night. David Corbin, a politics professor at The King's College, contends there is potential for public riots the night of or after the election, if Obama's lead in the polls does not translate into victory.

"I don't think that's something that we've looked at very closely, and I think that this could be a powder keg here as we get towards that day, given that Senator Obama is an African-American and given that there might be some backlash if he actually loses," Corbin explains.

Corbin notes that seemingly small stories involving O.J. Simpson and Rodney King have brought into play terrible riots in major cities across the U.S. "I think a lot of people are looking to an Obama presidency to affirm the notion that somehow Americans aren't racist and, if for some reason Senator Obama loses, then it's just, 'Oh well, it's said and done. We must be a racist nation,'" Corbin adds.

People who fuel that claim of racism, according to Corbin, do damage to one of Senator Obama's main themes -- moving beyond a red-and-blue, or black-and-white America.

“another reason for “the polls” to be faked. then “the polls” are taken as certifiable evidence that “the election was stolen”.

So true. In 2004, I had several frustrating discussions with leftist friends who insisted that the election was stolen; because exit polls showed Kerry won. I happen to know a lot about survey research and statistical analysis, & I tried to reason with them, to no avail.

My humble suggestion (as a foreigner) is that Republicans should make a point of taking exit polls, wherever they have a chance. I suspect that Republicans tend to decline to take exit polls — or else that the pollsters are biased, and skip over anyone who looks “Republican” (i.e. clean, dressed well, sober, etc.).

Either that, or make a point of not taking the exit polls — to really stir things up.

I heard that call yesterday, and couldn’t believe Rush didn’t get what she was saying. Doesn’t he know what bums do to the houses the bank takes away from them? I live in a small town, and have seen so-called “respectable” people destroy houses when they get reposessed.

So they can’t take our money the ‘legal’ unjust way — through the Congress?

Enough dollar bills from us, right now, in one bailout bill, to stretch to the moon and back 178 times?

So now they threaten to riot to get it?

Bring it on — lock ‘n load!

We all live in a representative democracy. If “they” don't like the results they may file legal challenges and protest peacefully. If “they” riot, shoot the bastards!

I will take the chance, but I am on the Frontline. I am in the Chicago area.

Rogers Park is not too bad, at least it is the North Side.

It is close to South Evanston, which is rough.

The mob would first hit Lincoln Park and the Near North side, where the money is.

Don’t care, and if they want to bring it ... fine by me. Let’s see if we can get some things resolved as a result.

The premise of this article sounds like an old-fashioned mob protection racket.

“Hey, youse don’t want your store burned to the ground? Good. We don’t want dat either. Youse just pay us 10 grand a month and nuttin will happen to your store. We guarantee it”.

“Who would change their vote to prevent a riot?”

The white jurors in the OJ trial?

If this happens, I will be prepared, and will probably have several of my BLACK conservative friends here with me, back to back.

This is not a race issue, although the Oroids would like you to think so, and trying to instill you with fear about the racist fallout of not voting for the o. This is about the worst of socialism being crammed down our throats, and it affects all of us: White, Black, Hispanic, whatever.

No CWII here, but they want it in order to take the country by force.

Keep your eye to the sky, and your powder dry...

Win or lose; there will be riots in many major cities which ever way it goes for Obama.

The only question is will they be more severe if he loses or if he wins.

Could an Obama victory increase racism in America?

More likely, riots will be in cities that have not experienced a riot in a long time, like Boston, Indianapolis, Detroit, possibly New York City. Yet even there, I do not expect much tolerance from law enforcement.

The Urban Barbarians have been pushed further and further out from Manhattan over the past 15-20 years, all the way to eastern Brooklyn, south Queens, and the central and eastern Bronx. Many have moved south.

Any rioting would be in a small area, and the NYPD currently has the manpower to deal with it. Hopefully, however, they will do better than the 1964 Harlem riots, when the cops lined up in a baton charge down Lenox Avenue, causing the rioters to simply scatter to the side streets.

good idea, as rush limbaugh says, they (pollsters) only care about being correct the last week of an election.

i agree with that analysis.

I used to live in Uptown, but would spend alot of time at some hippie cafe whose name I forget up in Rogers Park. Great beach in the area too.

Heaviest rioting would be in Englewood/West Englewood and Garfield Park. If rioting broke out in Washington Park, it could spread into Hyde Park near the University.
