GOP Resurgence Predicted

The Massachusetts Republican party is “alive and well” and “poised to take the governorship in two years,” said former Massachusetts Governor A. Paul Cellucci last night while speaking for a joint event held by the Harvard Republican Club and the Harvard Law Republicans.

Cellucci, who is also the former U.S. ambassador to Canada, spoke for a little over an hour in Emerson Hall in an event attended by students from colleges throughout the Boston area.

His remarks hit on the current presidential race, the state of the Massachusetts Republican party, and his experience as an ambassador to Canada.

HRC President Colin J. Motley ’10 said Cellucci is a “pretty unique political creature” due to his success in Massachusetts politics as a Republican.

Cellucci, a spokesman for Senator John McCain’s campaign, began his remarks by talking about the current presidential race.

“You’d think this would be a Democratic year,” he said referring to the perceived Democratic advantages this year.

But he said, “I think it is going to be very close... I’m cautiously optimistic.”

I don’t think Teddy and the crushing Kennedy machine will be around anymore.

Let's get a few things straight at the outset. There are NO Republicans in MA. There are no Conservatives in MA. A Republican in MA is a moderate liberal. Second, MA is a Communist state control by leftists, who control the state government apparatus, the criminal leftist political machinery, and all levels of education from kindergarten to Ph.D.

Residents of MA are far left, anti-capitalist (except for their own personal wealth and equity), anti-American, anti-Constitution, pro-homosexuality, pro-abortion, anti-justice, anti-war, anti-national security, anti-military, anti-religious.

Now, Cellucci who??

My brother in Newton is a conservative Republican. However, other than he, I know of no others in The People’s Republic of Massachusetts.

No, what’s happening is that Kennedy is dying. He’s been the co-ordinator for years. He’s an old fashioned politician. He’s the one that pulls the levers and makes the calls to the right people that’s kept a grip on the state for decades. That’s slipping away now. There’s nobody to take his place. Once he’s gone, there’ll be a number of disparate groups with no leader.

MA was a solid republican state till Kennedy was elected in ‘52. And they’ve been in control of the state since.

Yes, let’s get a few things straight: There ARE Republicans in Mass. There ARE Conservatives in Mass. A real Republican in Mass. votes Republican, but cannot be held to task because the Republican POLITICIANS are moderates. The Democratic Machine is too big to defeat.

How do I know? Because I lived there 40 years, my family is still there, all staunch conservatives; most of my friends there are conservatives, and they are all fighting the left-wing fanatics. And most of the Conservatives are OUTSIDE the Hub, the big cities. They live in the small cow towns, and hold dear the values that we expouse on this site.

And I KNOW Amb. Paul Cellucci, who was a neighbor 2 doors down. He’s a good and hardworking leader of the Republican Party.

When you’re outnumbered 100 to 1, that doesn’t mean you’re one of them; it just means they haven’t completely stamped you out yet.

I'm not so sure, perhaps his wife will fill his term?

Cellucci? Isn’t he the guy who thought that the “fisting for third graders” curriculum in the Massachsetts government schools was a terrific idea?

Call me when they start talking about a GOP/Conservative state legislature. Until then, all the Republican governors in the world won’t make an inch of difference in MA.

You are wrong. There are LOTs of true conservatives here in MA in fact I work with many of them (even though we are still outnumbered buy 4-1. The problem is we ARE so far outnumbered that our voices become inaudible over the whining, pissing and moaning of the irrational, emotional liberal moonbats. I vote EVERY election to oust the political hacks in our system but it almost always goes for naught. Either way, we do exist so don’t be so quick to dismiss us.

Agree with many fellow MA conservatives here!

We are few, but dedicated... and outnumbered. Its like being in a foxhole with a few close friends (like family), and enemy fire on all 6 sides of you (above and below too), the enemy being "within".

So, in a phrase: Conservative FIRST, Republican second.
