Dont look now, but stocks are down a whopping 1 percent in Germany and are flat in Britain and France.
U.S. markets are poised to open higher.
Most Asian stock markets are holding up well too. The Shanghai Composite closed down just 0.2 percent; the Hang Seng closed up 0.8 percent; Bombays BSE 30 closed finished the day up 2.1 percent.
Flashback: The US stock market could suffer a devastating crash with shares losing a third of their value this week if Hank Paulsons financial bailout plan fails, US Treasury officials have warned.

The Chicken Littles, let by our Beltway Elites, have been blaring for two weeks that if the American people did not heed their apocalyptic scenarios and fork over $700 billion to the Mother Of All Bailouts, a Great Depression was around the corner. The carnage NEVER happened this morning. But judging from the hysteria in Washington to do something, an appreciation of economic reality is absent from official appraisals. Just tells you about the judgment of Bush, Paulson, the MSM and the rest of the Beltway Crowd.

Yes, but take a look at this AP story about the European markets today:
http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080930/world_markets.html
The Irish government put up a 500 Billion Euro (that’s 717 Billion Dollars) guarantee of all deposits and borrowings for their six major banks. By my calculation that is about $170,000.00 per person in Ireland.
On top of that, Dexia has joined the cash infusion club over here in eurotopia.

Not to burst everyone’s bubble but this is a dead cat bounce. Today the word on the street is that investors are hoping for a rework of the bailout and a new bill for Thursday - maybe with better protections. Markets are always about expectations, I don’t think this is over yet. You can bet on volatility for the next few days. Today is a day for day traders, you don’t want to be long on hopes and wishes.

Could this mean the American Public understood the situation better than their leaders and all the pundits? Hmmm ... I trust the American Public ... and that is why I think they will DECIDE against Obama in November. Polls did not predict the bailout angst and I don’t believe any poll can predict this election. There’s just “something” out there they can’t seem to measure. We saw that “something” yesterday.

Some people are still looking for their taxpayer fix like drug junkies. We'll just to make sure the taxpayers are NOT on the hook for it.

Regarding President Bush’s involvement in all of this:
I have always supported the President because of the War on Terror and because I believe that at his core he is a very good man. Having said that, with the exception of Jimmy Carter, I have never seen a more fiscally irresponsible President. MBA my ass.
