The correct term is “cult of personality.” It is in every way a cult. Most posters are making comparisons to Hitler, but is more accurate to make comparisons to Stalin. As part of their schoolwork, young children had to write poems praising Stalin, the Great Leader. They had poem writing contests, and the winner got to personally meet the Great Leader himself. Most of the poems were nauseating in how they fawned over this brutal murderer.
They wrote poems to this monster praising him, even as he condemned their parents to death or slave labor in Siberia.
