When I saw Petty, he has an elaborate set. It was a dilapidated plantation, to go with the theme of the album he was promoting. Had a couple of horns. Couple of backup singers. But the show was straight ahead rock and roll all the way.

I saw Paul in 2002 or so. But he was very energetic, his voice was fine. He did a good mix of Beatles and Wings. I guess I'm one of the few Wings fans out there. I already mentioned my favorite song of the night was "Maybe I'm Amazed", which was post Beatles. I also loved that he played "Let Me Roll It", a Wings tune. Of course he also did "Band on the Run", which I like. Throw in the Beatles tunes, Hey Jude, Blackbird, etc, and it's a pretty solid show.

I give Paul some slack for being basically obligated to do certain songs. It's like the Stones. It's got to be hard to make an interesting setlist when your audience is going to demand a certain handful of favorites. And anytime an artist tries to deny the fans, they get pretty pissed. But then, at the prices I paid, I damn well wanted to hear Hey Jude also.

ever since the Janet Jackson ‘flap’, they’ve been having older people do it, some reeeeaaalll old ones too, the Stones! Springsteen can sing to the wind, I won’t be watching.

Tom Petty played a couple of downer whine numbers last year.

Face it, the NFL is running out of old, safe and/or white guys to play the show. All the young acts are either too foul-mouthed or will tear off someone’s bra.

Maybe they need to just go to doing some half-time commentary, and let the folks use the time to hit the john, or get some buffalo chicken wings outta the kitchen or something. Time to drop the halftime show. It's passe'.

Maybe people should let the folks that make Budweiser know our feelings.

Why don’t they just get it over with and put Michael Bolton or Air Supply up there?

Well, with the number of fans who will change channel now during half time, I suspect their “wardrobe malfunction insurance” bill just got cut by 90%! ;-P

Anyone with a DVR should do what we do — record the game, and then start watching a little bit behind real time. Then you can just skip over the halftime monstrosities and get right back to the third quarter...

Heck, we do this every Sunday night with the regular NBC broadcast, to avoid having to listen to Olberman.

Why don’t they just have Olberdork as the half time show?

We could throw frisbees at him and watch him catch them in his mouth.

You put The BeeGees in the same group with Menudo? The Brothers Gibb were talented.

"And there’s lots of good disco."

No. Male soprano castrati, always bad taste.
