Reports continue to come in that Barack Obama’s Presidential Campaign is threatening legal action against his critics.
On Tuesday (September 23), CBS affiliate KMOV reported that Obama had enlisted a number of Missouri law enforcement officials, including local sheriffs and prosecutors, “to target anyone who lies or runs a misleading television ad [against Obama] during the presidential campaign."
The CBS report is the latest of several incidents where the Obama campaign has threatened critics with civil or criminal prosecution. According to World Net Daily, his campaign “also sent ‘threatening’ letters to several news agencies in Pennsylvania and Ohio demanding they stop airing ads exposing Obama's gun stance. In addition, “Obama’s lawyers twice demanded the Department of Justice investigate and prosecute the American Issues Project, its officers, board of directors, and donors,” for running ads critical of Obama’s ties to “unrepentant domestic terrorist William Ayers.”
Obama himself has also urged tough measures against people who fail to back him, telling a group of supporters in Nevada recently to “argue with and…get in [the] face(s)” of Republican and independent voters.

If anyone catches Obama in a lie can that person press charges? Based on the logic of his campaign it appears one could...but of course that would be slander to point out a lie and would be arrested before pointing out said lie.”
This is exactly what came to my mind. Shouldn’t 0bama be the first to turn himself in to the authorities if he cares SO much about truth???

The Democrats have, in this proposed bailout, piled all kinds of payoffs to groups like ACORN, a criminal enterprise that is supposed to register potential voters. Dozens of ACORN employees have been convicted or indicted for election fraud. And who is their lawyer? Non other than Senator Barack Obama, whose campaign was caught laundering money to ACORN through another company in violation of federal campaign laws.
The Obama campaign is now under investigation by the FBI and the FEC. Not surprising, the mainstream media is ignoring that investigation and if it wasn’t for Free Republic non of us would even know that investigation exists!

Gov. Blunt Statement on Obama Campaign’s Abusive Use of Missouri Law Enforcement
JEFFERSON CITY - Gov. Matt Blunt today issued the following statement on news reports that have exposed plans by U.S. Senator Barack Obama to use Missouri law enforcement to threaten and intimidate his critics.
“St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, and Obama and the leader of his Missouri campaign Senator Claire McCaskill have attached the stench of police state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign.
“What Senator Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous beyond words, the party that claims to be the party of Thomas Jefferson is abusing the justice system and offices of public trust to silence political criticism with threats of prosecution and criminal punishment.
“This abuse of the law for intimidation insults the most sacred principles and ideals of Jefferson. I can think of nothing more offensive to Jefferson’s thinking than using the power of the state to deprive Americans of their civil rights. The only conceivable purpose of Messrs. McCulloch, Obama and the others is to frighten people away from expressing themselves, to chill free and open debate, to suppress support and donations to conservative organizations targeted by this anti-civil rights, to strangle criticism of Mr. Obama, to suppress ads about his support of higher taxes, and to choke out criticism on television, radio, the Internet, blogs, e-mail and daily conversation about the election.
“Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family. Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility. When necessary, we refute them. Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts - not a free society.”

Does McCain even know about this? There’s so much that he can say about Hussein that he doesn’t. I’m beginning to be dissapointed in him. He’s missing too many opportunities to wipe him out once and for all. He said very little about Hussein undermining the Bush admin on troop withdrawals, he didn’t call out Obama’s $ from Fannie/Freddie, just too many things to list. Where is he????

I wish I had your optimism.I live in the NY area and even otherwise rational people are all in for Obama. It boggles the mind.
I hope and pray you're right. But there seem to be a lot of supposedly intelligent people who are buying his BS. It's downright scary.
