Yes he was an actor and a great one. Regardless of political views I never recall his being biting and vicious in attacks like many in Hollywood and he did have a right as all to his political views. It is sad to see a legend pass. It is sad for his family. May they find comfort in the years they had and may he rest in peace.

Great actor, good man, I'll disregard politics. A king when Hollywood actually was cool. RIP.

From the wiki link:
"He died on September 27 2008 for his cancer." Odd phrasing.

Still unconfirmed at 7:06 am CST
If it’s true, goodbye to a great actor and philanthropist! :*(
How many children has he helped with his donations from his sales of salad dressing, etc.? If true, condolences to Joanne Woodward and the rest of his family and friends at their loss.
One of my all time favorite movies is “Towering Inferno”—they called Frank Sinatra “Old Blue Eyes”, but man, Paul Newman had some gorgeous blue eyes going himself! :-)

His second and third lives as business man and Race Car driver, were both equally successful if not greater than his acting career.
