An unconfirmed report just came in from AD reader Kubrickguy. Newman was battling cancer but must have lost the fight. Long live Paul Newman.
********ADMIN NOTE
Confirmed on Fox News.
Prayers to his entire family. What an amazing actor and also an avid race car driver and race car fan! I wonder what happens next, if anything changes at all, to all of his “Newman’s Own” food products? I certainly do enjoy using his Pineapple Salsa, and it’s truly very popular and difficult to find in the stores sometimes because of its popularity.
It’s sad to see how many of the movie stars that I knew growing up are now gone. Paul Newman was one on the best. He has contributed so much to charities through his foundation and Newman’s Own brand. By the way, his company makes a terrific french roast coffee.
May the big raceway in the sky welcome Paul Newman!! Us racing fans will miss him. I bet he's up in Heaven racing Dale Earnhardt, Lee and Adam Petty, Davey Allison, Alan Kulwicki, Mark Donahue, Tim Richmond and other famous race drivers - With Benny Parsons announcing.
And who knows maybe James Dean is in the RACE!!
Yes it is - I still donate to the camp and next year RWT might work there as a CIT.
Lindsey Lohan and Paris Hilton has as much talent as Obama has! I've seen grade school kids with more talent then those two 'stars'!!
They are legend because someone - their agent - said they are. I could hire an agent and say I can hit a homerun but it doesn't mean I can -- and Lindsey and Paris has as much talent as a paper bag blowing in a hurricane.
You’ve never seen a Paul Newman movie???
And I was thinking he did “LeMans”, but it was ‘Winning’!
RIP to a good man. WWII Vet, married to the same woman for 50 years (and I'm pretty sure he had some decent offers to go astray), $250 million to charity after taxes, taking care of sick kids, Newman-Haas Racing...
Wow! Liberal or not that was a hell of a life
You mean there are ‘actors’ still today?? I would call 90% of those Communists in Hollywierd actors - I seen better acting at the local community theater — NOT ORGANIZED by ACORN or Obama!!
True... you can be...Hollywood lost one of their GREATEST GENERATION stars. RIP Mr. Newman...
Did you forget that Ron - before Nancy - had Jane Wyman? Yes, he is a Liberal, but not the kind HollyWeird is known for today!!
the sentence --'I would call 90% of those Communists in Hollywierd actors'...should have been:
I would NOT call 90% of those Communists in Hollywierd actors
Sorry
As for Newman himself, he was a hardcore liberal Democrat. Just like Robert Redford, George Clooney and Michael Moore. These are the people that are attempting to turn America into a socialist state. Wake up, you numb-nuts.
It would be wonderful if more people could understand that.
Re: “he was a hardcore liberal Democrat. Just like Robert Redford, George Clooney and Michael Moore. These are the people that are attempting to turn America into a socialist state. Wake up, you numb-nuts.”
I totaly agree with you! I can’t believe how many on this website have said he was great guy -
Obviously, they have not done their homework.
He strongly supported many of the things that are so anti-conservative!
http://www.newsmeat.com/celebrity_political_donations/Paul_Newman.php
$3,100 Republican
$228,300 Democrat
$2,500 Independent
$47,500 special interest
total: $281,400
$228,300 to Democrats
$250 million to charity
I think, in balance, his good deeds outweighed his bad. :o)
RIP Cool Hand
Sometimes even conservatives need to be reminded with something more than just a simple RIP acronym.
In recent years Newman supported both Bill and Hillary Clinton, Algore, John Kerry, Ned Lamont, Chris Dodd and Al Franken. In the past he supported Eugene McCarthy, Jimmy Carter and George McGovern. Newman also supported FDR, Truman, RFK, LBJ, JFK and that great liberal intellectual and two time Presidential loser to General Eisenhower, Adlai Stevenson. Outside of Joe Lieberman, can't think of one liberal Newman wouldn't support.
Here's what Newman said about Pres GW Bush:
"I am proud now to stand with a new generation of Democrats against a president who poses what I believe to be the biggest internal threat to American democracy in my lifetime."
Here's a link to Newman's letter on behalf of the Senate Democrat Campaign Committee.
PS - Newman didn't care for President Reagan either. He thought Reagan "was institutionalizing national disregard for those in need". Typical liberal jackass.
I’ll watch “Cat On A Hot Tin Roof” as many times as they want to play it. The entire cast was awesome and Newman was in his prime.
Movie legend Paul Newman has quietly turned over his ownership of Newman's Own cookies and salad dressing companyworth $120 millionto his charitable foundation, which helps ill and impoverished kids, reports Fox TV.
Prayers for his wife, his family, for all the children he loved, and may He rest in peace.
