What’s wrong with being loved by Hollywood? What does that even mean anyway? Winning awards? A lot of great film artists do.

Mr. Newman had a Double H Hole in the Woods camp in my hometown. Mr. Newman collaborated with our local extremely-rich-guy to put it together, and actually spent a short time in the area.

Butch and Sundance was one of the greats.

>>>>>What’s wrong with being loved by Hollywood?

Before the 1970`s, nothing. Today, if you're a liberal, still nothing. I guess. Republicans are a different story. I'd include conservatives in that, but off hand I can't think of one conservative who is part of the Hollywood liberal establishment these days.

>>>>>What does that even mean anyway?

For starters, how about getting more credit then you deserve. That had a lot to do with my pointed comments. Newman was pretty low key about his liberalism. I just don't want to see him made into something he is not. While Hollywood elites trash more traditional actors of the past.

Goodbye Reggie Dunlop.

I don’t know what ‘Hollywood Elite’ means either as there’s just about no surefire box office attraction these days. They had Elites back in the 40s and 50s.

“Sorry I have to DISAGREE with you on Paul. A liberal yes, but he put his $$$ where his mouth was. can’t you put away your HATRED of Liberals for a day to morn the passing of a GREAT man??”

Some people can never look past politics which is sad. Whether or not someone is a good person is not solely determined by political views. I have some friends who are liberals. You can be misguided politically but still love your country and your family and be a good person.

No one has eyes like Paul Newman.

They were the bluest blue, stunningly beautiful.

And he was such a good man. He had one wife, and I never heard a hint about scandal in his life.

May he rest in peace.

That is called a contradiction. Clearly, you have nothing of substance to offer.

I had no idea!

I know he had some kids with his wife Joan Woodward. I thought she was his only one.

Kenyon College, his alma mater (and mine), has a tribute to him on its web page, www.kenyon.edu.

His best.

With respect I think Newman was one of those actors where you can't point to one single move and say, "His best." There was something special and unique in almost every one of his roles.

"I know he had some kids with his wife Joan Woodward. I thought she was his only one."

He was married for nine years the first time and had two daughters and a son by his first wife.

Woodward was his second wife and they celebrated their fiftieth anniversary this year. He had three more daughters with Woodward.

Seems to me that there ought to be a kind of "statute of limitations" there -- like after you've been married to someone for fifty years, they are referred to as your "only wife/husband".

Never really cared for his politics and I didn’t like his spagetti sauce but his movies and acting ability were always first class. One of the last of the REAL big screen STARS IMHO.
