Wow. Bad news. I know he was a lefty, but he wasn't a loud or mean lefty.
Newman was a great actor and I have enjoyed his movies for decades.
May he rest in peace.

Liberals like that, I don’t mind. He put his money where his mouth was, quietly, which is more than we can say about a lot of people, liberal or conservative.
He was married for forty years, which is more than we can say about a lot of people, liberal or conservative.
If the rest of the left was like him, we’d be in great shape.

” He also made MANY stinkers and was vastly overrated as an actor. A hardcore liberal his whole life and loved by Hollywood.”
Tell us what you really think.
To: tomymind
A truly great actor. God comfort his family.

You have also got to admire the way he stayed married to the same woman. He was a good role model. He seemed like a devoted husband. That says something about a man’s character.

What garnered Newman a huge amount of respect was that he wanted to make a difference--and he did it through the
Newman's Own food company, who donates 100% of its profits to charity (US$220 million donated as of this month since the company was founded in 1982). I think a lot of the
Hollywood Left today are kicking themselves for not doing this idea earlier.
A great, often under-appreciated actor who really did make a difference in the lives of many people for the right reasons--he will be sorely missed.

First thing I thought of too!

Best role? "The Verdict." Simply an outstanding movie.
Hated the guy's politics, but gotta give credit where credit is due ...

As much as I respected the man with his "HOLE IN THE WALL CAMP", and meeting them a few times (At Lime Rock Raceway, at Shady Glen (a restaurant he and JoAnne loved to visit) and meeting him at his 'Hole In The Wall' camp), and his movies, I won't say anything bad about his politics.
HollyWeird lost another great actor, and the racing world lost a great racer/owner. Prayers goes out to his family.

He and I met at LimeRock Raceway and he was truly an ACTOR. He was a great DRIVER, and Newman/Haas/Langigan Racing will miss its leader. (I have to see what Jayski’s Page have to say about this racing legend!)
Paul Newman was a star in Hollywood when it was cool.

Newman was a dyed-in-the-wool left wing liberal,
GreenAccord, he was, but he was very Down to Earth. Politically I didn’t like him, but meeting him (I worked at his camp for a year) he was not the ‘ACTORS’ of today, but a humble man.
