Hello Deborah, I am a mid-forties college educated professional white woman with two adopted white daughters and an African-American "son". He is a boy being raised by elderly grandparents who has grown up with my girls in our neighborhood, practically lives at our house and I can tell you with all honestly that I love him as much as I do my daughters. I have dreams that he can and will attain whatever he chooses in life, and my husband and I will do everything we can to help him attain those dreams. We support and encourage him, attend all of his sporting events, have those mother-father talks with him and share his joys and sorrows. With all that said, I am deeply offended by the tone of your article regarding Obama's potential loss being related to racism, along with all of the other writers in the past few weeks who have spewed the same junk. I would vote for ANY African-American male or female anyday, anytime for anything. I would however, NEVER vote for anyone white or black who wanted to use my tax dollars to support public funding of abortion, and would leave "less than perfect" babies who survive an abortion attempt to die. The three children I have "adopted" are not on the earth because they were planned and as Obama says, he would not want his daughters "burdened" with such children. But let me tell you, these children are amazing, loved and two of them ( one of my daughters and my "son") came from drug addicted mothers...the very kind targeted by planned parenthood for abortions, and the children Obama would expect my tax dollars to pay to end their precious lives. I hope I live to see the day when an African-American is president, and I would be overjoyed for it to be the "son" that I love dearly who calls me "mom", that would not be here in Obama's perfect world. THAT is why I am not voting for Obama. Sincerely, Tracy Boggs

Obama didn’t say anything about being “burdened” with a child.
He said he didn’t want his daughters to be “punished with a baby” if they got pregnant.

Let us know if she responds. But, I doubt she will. She wants the world to be full of racists so she has a justification to hate white people.
But, for the future, punctuation goes inside the quotes in American grammar.
Like this:
...adopted white daughters and an African-American “son.”
Not like this (as in your original)
...adopted white daughters and an African-American “son”.

Deborah Douglas is an editorial board member.A board member no less. The race card is played only when they're out of all other valid options. It would be interesting to see her explain why so many whites voted to get Obama where he is today. I don't hear any saying if McCain loses it's because he's white.

I’m so sick of the rascist arguments being thrown in our face all the time. I think most decent, honest, hardworking, non-rascist Americans are tired of the constant assaults. Slavery was a bad thing, but let’s not forget the THOUSANDS of WHITE Americans who died to end it. Personally, I see more rascism from African Americans.

I am sick and tired of the African American description, too. While Black Americans had no choice to come here 200 years ago, almost EVERY Black family has been in this country for over 150 years LONGER than us white folk, and THAT makes them more American than most of us!
WE ARE ALL AMERICANS!
drop the labels and just get on with your life!

All this “racist” crap from the left is to prepare the way for massive accusations of racism if the marxist from Illinois loses. If he wins, it will just add to White guilt.

Mr. 0bama (unlike many others) is truly an African-American - his father was African and his mother was American. Almost everyone else who call themselves African-American are just plain American.

That particular aspect of American grammar is goofy. The period only needs to be inside the quotes if the item quoted is a complete sentence, in which case there should be two periods (one inside the quote, and one outside to complete the other sentence). But then, I’m a computer programmer, I think like a computer and consistency is critical.

“Phony outrage”, they use it as currency .
This woman and her husband speak for and is committed to abandoned children....not exactly fasionable right now according to the Time Warner cabal.

Well, no. Actually, since he claims he was born in America, he’s only American.
He (supposedly) wasn’t born in Kenya, didn’t even know his African father, how on earth does that stretch to be “African”

Like theres a difference??Yes, anyone can carry a burden, which can be positive or negative, but a punishment, presented in this manner, is always negative.
When using quotes, it's always best to be accurate.
